***Official*** West Indies in Australia

Amazing innings from BC Lara. It's too bad for the West Indies that he couldn't come good until the series was already over. Also, one must realize that his innings could have been long over, if it wasn't for Ponting's refusal to bowl Clown.

Amazing stuff from Lara, great to see him break the record in Australia (probably in front of AB) and in such a huge and important innings.

Having McGrath allows Australia to let Lee play his natural game - now whether he is good enough at his natural strength is another matter altogether.

Ultimately, you have to weigh in the importance of potential wickets versus potential runs squandered and decide accordingly. It is possible that your attacking bowler can go for runs without taking any wickets, but that's a risk that comes with all the perks afforded by such a weapon.
Agree with your post. I am a person who sees the importance of strike bowlers as well. Is Lee Good enough as you asked or consistently good enough if I can ask that. I will not put Lee in any categroy of genuine strike bowlings because his average in recent years indicates he needs some improvement. Which has indeed let him to implement changes. Are they sufficient- we may get some answers versus the South Africans.

Well I missed watching Border's record live and missed watching Lara's record live as well. Guess I am in some curse with this record.

Nice to do it in Australia, in style with the double century.

Has there ever been a player who made batting look more stylish? Not really.

I really like Lee but the fact is that he avearges..

England.....44.1
Pakistan... 46.8
SAF..........38.4

and relishes

NZL...........20.8
Windies.....23.4

He needs a more creditable performance to back his enthusiasm. With nearly 50 matches already played, we can say, its getting a bit late. The day, Australia discover another bowler of his pace and some class, we may see less and less of Lee.

I can`t see anything other than Aussie domination from here. I`m seriously expecting a total of around 600, maybe higher. A Hussey 200 anyone?

Whatever it takes!!!
Well, I watched the highlights and then I got up early today and watched the match LIVE and boy am I glad that I did. World records don't happen every year and I am especially glad that I have watched both the ODI record and the test record now, by the two best batsman I have seen... SRT and BCL.

If he gets a bat. Langer and Hodge are looking very, very good.
