I would have been very angry if that had have been given. Despite Lawry yelling 'Got em' there was more than enough doubt for Lara not to be given. The ball pitched, at best, half outside leg and half on leg.

Once again we see the Australians treating the umpires with no respect. The culprits today so far - McGrath and Symonds.

Lawry has always been highly critical of batsmen not offering a shot. In his mind the batsmen always loses the benefit of the doubt padding up. Nothing wrong with that IMO

It was a great decision, and it was about time Lara got a close one in his favour. However, even if the ball pitched half on leg, half outside it is still out.

Ian Healy you doofus. Seriously watch the replays before making comment.

I, for the first and last time in my life, am going to have to compliment Mark Nicholas on this occasion for showing exactly why Dar said 'not out'.

Also glad to see Ponting and Lee got reprimanded for their appeals last match. As long as its all consistent I don't have a problem.

Great decision.

Shame he couldn't get the one right that was about a foot further outside leg in the Ashes when he ridiculously gave Katich out LBW to Harmison and changed the game.

It was magnificent umpiring and quite funny to see the reaction of the commentators. Most of the ball if not all pitched outside the leg stump. The lines of the leg stump, off stump are imaginary lines for the umpires - it must be kept in mind. So there was conisiderable room for a lot of doubt though it may look to be going on to hit the stumps. The hawk eye showed it would be going over the stumps but is the hawk eye all conclusive.

It would have been quite sad to see Lara out like that if he was.

Despite these morons producing the most cringingly biased 10 minutes of commentary I've ever heard, there's no debate. It wasn't f***ing out! Pitched outside leg and might have been too high. Isn't that reason enough for these cretins?!

No, Nicholas was just as bad. Having watched the ball clearly pitch outside leg on the replay he said something half-arsed along the lines of "you know, there may have been reason for the umpire to consider not giving it". Pathetic.

Uncalled for language petal, and frankly I'm surprised at you.

First warning.

Symonds bowling well. Good move by Ponting to bring him on early while the balls still new. Good line and length plus outswing and proving very hard to get away. 4 overs 4 maidens wow!

Fair enough if you think so, there ain't no way in hell I'm going to ever defend Mark Nicholas about anything so I'll take your word for it. :p

Three for Lee now. Looks like he's on track to top the wicket taking for the series, with 13 @ 18 now. McGrath with 10 is second.

Jono what happened, did they get fined?
I thought they did, but apparently not

So Akhtar wears some manufacturer's logo and is fined. Hoggard doesn't turn around and appeal for an obvious caught behind and is fined. But Lee runs all the way past the stumps without even bothering to appeal for the LBW which wasn't even out, and he's just cautioned.

*shrugs*
