The Canadian side has a quite a few India, Sri Lankan and Pakistani expats.
This shouldn't come as a surprise. I've mentioned this before too, in Canada no one outside of the South Asian and West Indian community even has the faintest idea as to what cricket is or all its rules. Hence, 75 percent of the players come from Toronto region, and the rest from Vancouver, Montreal, other large cities with a significant South Asian/West Indian community.

Ice hockey and North American sports (basketball, baseball, etc.) are what kids here grow up with. Cricket in Canada is surviving solely on the interest shown by the minority community. Also, in recent times there has been a surge of British immigrants to Canada and, thus, we have seen a growing amount of British players join the leagues.

I'm told that there are so many Pakistanis in the team, they generally converse on the field in Urdu. Not a criticism, just notable.
Yes there's a lot of Pakistanis that play cricket here in Canada. But yeah, it shouldn't come as a surprise. I've played for West Indian clubs here in Toronto, and despite them being able to speak English with a Canadian accent, they choose to bring out their Jamaican accents. But do remember this is the immigrant community here in Canada, so they've grown up in other parts of the world. The majority of new generation of Canadians with a South Asian/West Indian background, who've been born here, are for the most part unaware of cricket's existence in Canada.

Warm up matches are even more irrelevant when you have so many group games. It doesn't matter who is in form now, really, it's who is looking good come their last Group match.

243ao versus the Canucks just a little ploppy, tbh.

Nice to see Prior scoring down the order tho, hopefully means we've put him opening to bed once and for all.

Well, England fans can breathe a touch easier it seems. Perhaps there was something in the pitch. Still doesn't excuse 158/7, but as I said, a little easier.

Well If Canada are bowled out for around 100 then we have an excuse and can blame the pitch. This game means as little as the one day series in Australia though. All this is is trying to adjust to conditions and can do better is the opening point for the batting.

Haha this. There are just so many reasons why really the most you can take out of these is a little giggle if someone has embarrassed themselves slightly, as we have and England has to some extent today

28/5, wow. Was it Canada against whom Vaas took 8/20 or something in the 2003 WC? Not much has changed batting-wise, it seems.

Those of us who watched Canada in the Caribbean domestic 20/20 tournament are not surprised that the Canadians gave the England batsmen so much difficulty....

Obviously, their batting is their main problem.

Rizwan Cheema to storm the World Cup.

Why on earth is Wright bowling this early in anycase. Isn't Jimmy there?
Jimmy being rested apparantly. Presumably they decided to go with an actual XI, seeing as Bres and Swann can't play. Kind of redundant as they're never going to play this XI.
