Let's see - Ganguly grew up playing Kumble, Raju, Chauhan etc in spin bowling and Agarkar, Srinath, Prabhakar etc in fast bowling whereas Ponting grew up playing against Warnie, Mcgill in Spin and Mcgrath,Gillespie, Williams in fast bowling depts. Clearly Gangs has an edge over Ponting here. :P

Doesn't Ganguly normally bat at three in ODI? Why didn't he in Perth? I'll tell you why - he saw the pace and bounce and thought "Not for me, thanks" - he has a heart problem.

This statement is as ridiculous as was Sanz's on Ponting. Ganguly said a couple of weeks back that he would bat at 4 since Laxman is batting well at 3. India lost 2 quick wickets and Dravid is the better to come b'coz he can stem thee flow of wickets. Ganguly has a superb record of playing on pitches in SAF and Aus and has scored about 8-10 hundreds on them. It was Sachin chickening in the tests and Ganguly in the onedayers :rolleyes: . Australia bowled out to a low score in Adelaide due to poor batting and India bowled out due to great bowling, Sehwag was caught at 3rd man cutting, Laxman fished at a bowl outside, Dravid driving the ball in the air ,etc,. But they all happened b'coz of good bowling in same way as it happ in Adelaide. IMO Sanz mentioned just to have dig at the members who made some baseless statements like Laxman, Dravid are FTB'S , Ganguly chickening out,etc,.

Pathan's bowling really well out there today - I think he has a real future.

When I saw that Zimbabwe were batting first, I assumed they'd lost the toss. I was shocked to find out they'd actually won it and decided to bat first.

Have to say, I don't think an awful lot of the Zimbabwe brainstrust. I realize it's hard to work with a limited pool of talent, but I don't think they've made things easy for themselves. The batting order is still puzzling at times, and Zimbabwe has definitely posed the most danger to sides when they've batted second, during this tournament (at least, that's how I recall it). The big danger here is that they'll set India a paltry target around 150 or below, and the game will be over before India bat.

Yeah ganguly's odi average is inflated due to large number of games vs minnows (india seem to play zimbabwe more than anyone) and high proportion of games on subcontinental highways with small outfields where the scores of batting teams are often much higher than the rest of the world.

Nehra is a very good bowler though his average doesnt suggest so. He is injured/unfit and get fit and then play nternational cricket. PLaying like this, he is harming himself more than any one else.

There r two types of cricket fans.. one who like to watch good cricket, no matter which team is winning/losing/playing.

The other is who is blinded by his support for his own country. Obviously you are of the second category.
