Thinking about it, the Indians didn't play good cricket ever since Brett Lee hit that six in Sydney, up till that point they looked on the same level of the Aussies, but ever since then they played poor against both Australia and Zimbabwe (bar VVS Laxman).
I agree with Linda, I like every other Indian fan was disappointed with the way India have played in the past 2 days, but this has absolutely nothing to do with their batting. No one was calling for Ganguly's head when he scored a brilliant 80+ in Melbourne, or Dravid's head when he played a great knock in Brisbane to stand by Laxman. The batting is not the problem, we need to get this out of our head. Sehwag, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly, Dravid and Yuvraj. That is a good batting line up, and each player has showed it at some point on this tour, get off their backs.
The problem is quite clearly the bowlers. World Cup and today is proof enough. Pathan and Balaji are young, and will improve. Nehra simply has to go, I've seen enough and no one can use his injury at the World Cup as an excuse any more. His fielding his poor and he is simply not up to standard. I was never a big fan of Kartik, give me Kumble or Harbhajan any day, even if he does have negative body language. Zaheer will hopefully get fit, and Agarkar is valuable enough, even if he is inconsistent. If Pathan and Balaji can come of age, I think India could be dominant in the future, but with this current bowling line up we're never going to be the best in the world.
I hope the Indian fans can understand that we were beaten by a better team while we had an inferior bowling line up, much inferior. Don't be like those fans that were burning Ganguly posters after their loss to Australia in the first WC game, these players don't deserve it.
It's a pity a great tour by India came to an end in such fashion. People shouldn't forget the effort they put in the test series and first half of the VB Series. My hats off go to India, even after today's performance. We just can't expect to win with our bowlers, simple as that.
