How many times in cricket can you say something like that!?

Regardless, Australia in a near-impossible position now.
LOL, Yeah I know but Bracken would have still played that shot regardless of the field.

Probable, but in my position, very arguable.

C`mon Bracken, smack us some boundaries.

Shot by Clarke! But 23 off 6 needed. And Bracken on-strike.

I reckon Clarke will tell him to stand outside off and try to play it down to fine-leg, with disastrous consequences. :D

That's it! Victory for Sri Lanka!

It wasn't that unlikely, as I've been saying, with McGrath out of the Australian team for the finals series. Everything has gone Sri Lanka's way today which is what they needed. They were always going to be competitive at Adelaide (and Sydney in the 2nd final), they needed to win the toss and did, allowing them to bat first, hence being able to expose Australia's bowling without having to chase 300-340. And on top of that Australia played like idiots ;)

Australia are so vulnerable without McGrath, and this once again proves it. When McGrath is only allowing 2-3 runs per over, the batsman have to go after Lee, particularly when they're chasing large totals. And when he's bowling really well, he's going to get wickets when you try and attack him. However if Lee is the only out and out world class ODI bowler in the team, the opposition batsman can see him off early, take to the other bowlers who are decent, and then attack Lee at the end when they have wickets in hand. Worked to perfection today.

Great effort from Sri Lanka, they have played wonderfully today. Absolutely brilliant display from them all day. They were going at $4 for a win, or I think it was $3.80 to be exact when I checked on Thursday night before a b'day dinner, and I came close to putting money on them but decided to wait for the Sydney match. Ah well, same old story for me :p If I hesitate my bet I generally would have won, but once I lay the money on the table it all goes wrong. :p

At this time I'd like to take the time to remind everyone of what Blaze and me pointed out during the NZ/SL series (well to be fair, Blaze pointed it out and I agreed with him :p), Dilshan is up there with Symonds, Ponting, Collingwood and Yuvraj as one of the best fielders in the world. 4 run outs... amazing!

And boy has my fantasy cricket team done well here. I'm in 2nd position now, but with Dilshan, Sanga, Clarke and Bracken in my team I could be in business to take top spot. :D

Goooooooooooooooone. Bracken`s average keeps rising though, and that`s what Australia should take out of this game.

Haha, pathetic running between the wickets really costing us.

I meant at the beginning of the series who would have thought Sri Lanka would be 1-0 up into the VB series final.

The other points of it not being that unlikely of Sri Lanka actually winning the match are quite legitimate.

LOL, what that when your team needs boundaries your batsmen is content in just getting singles.

For sure they looked a complete shower at the backend of last year.

Haha dude! He`s at number eleven! He swung hard quite a few times, but the Sri Lankan bowlers gave him no width which he normally uses well. Very well bowled by them.

Your LAST batsmen who was probably told to do just that and leave the hitting to the guy who'd passed 50 and was an ACTUAL batsman.

5 run outs, thats what cost Australia this game. Looking at how AUS bowled i do feel that SRI reveled in the absense of McGrath & with only Lee the bowling attack is suddenly missing something. Dont think any changes with the batting line-up are needed but the selectors should look at the bowling.

Now they go to Sydney where the conditions will suit SRI again, so they better becareful in the coming 2 games.

Fair point, considering people gave them no chance to even make the finals, and some believed they wouldn't beat Australia in a game. Whilst these predictions were warranted given their recent form (1-6 against India and 1-3 against NZ) they were a bit insulting to the SL team. They have always been a very competitive ODI team and I did (as many others too if one checks the early posts in this thread) believe they would be very competitive.

However you wouldn't have heard me saying 1-0 to SL after the first final before the series started. I'll give you that for sure :p
