C'mon Symonds' baggers, time to jump on the Ponting bandwagon 2 & 0 now in his two innings, he must be out of form, time for him to be dropped, hey?

God damn it, I don't care anymore, Lara has got to come in at 3. I heard he was possibly injured today? I didn't watch all the match (Had to give preference to Hewitt/Nalbandian today, did a bit of channel swapping) so if anyone can tell me if he has an injured wrist it'd be appreaciated.

As I said, I didn't watch much of this match by damn that's a terrific effort from the Aussies. However on the plus side for WI, Collins looks a very promising talent.

Hes got a sore wrist and its getting worse he says. I agree though that its a joke to have one of the best batsmen of all time sitting in the sheds for 25 overs while the rest of team digs itself into a hole. Infact it shouldnt be allowed.

2xc, you will no doubt respond to this with your usual "I have the stats, my opinion is definitive" rubbish but how do you account for the fact that Mark Nicholas and, I think, Mark Taylor, described Lee's first spell as "exceptional fast bowling.".
yes so exceptional was it that he was taken off after 4 overs8-)

social said:
Lee's first spell, from memory, was 4-0-26-1. Statistically poor but what was the reality of his performance.

Over 4 bowled to Inzy went for 15 runs - statistically poor. However, scoring shots were:

1. glove from in front off the face over keeper's outstretched hand to fence for 4;
and you accuse me of not watching? if you had watched the game you would have realised that it was a short ball on leg stump, in other words it was a poor ball anyways and he was put away, even if it wasnt of the mid of the bat, fact is it deserved what it got.

social said:
2. edge over slips for 4;
yes unlucky, 1 good ball in the over.

social said:
3. top-edge over fine leg for 6 (believe it or not, sometimes the pace of the ball is an assistance to the batsman); and
because he clearly deserved a wicket with a short pitch ball on leg stump! like it or not that was a poor delivery and it deserved to be put away, just because it wasnt put away off the mid of the bat it doesnt mean that it wasnt poor bowling.

social said:
4. edge to third man for a single.
That's why I keep advising you to watch cricket not simply download results
yes 1 run, how much of a difference that makes to his figures. and if you remember precisely what happened, you would also remember that the 6th ball of the over was a half volley, that inzy hit straight to the fielder when he should have put it away. and if it was such a brilliant bowling, please go ahead and explain to me why he was taken off immediately after that over?
not to mention of course that he bowled a 3 over spell after that, where he continued to bowl short deliveries and full wide balls wide outside the off stump. i believe in that next spell he went for 16 runs from 3 overs!
yes clearly i wasnt watching the game 8-)

BTW, calling possibly the 2nd best batsman of all time a "choker" and someone that cant play on seaming wickets is damaging your credibility.
ok then, go ahead and show me , when was the last time tendulkar won a game for india away from home or scored on a seamer friendly wicket away from home?

He, along with someone else who will not be mentioned, likes to comment on matches they never watched. Of course the scorecard and match report is enough to judge someone on 8-)
and of course with scorecards and match reports i can tell you stuff like razzaq hit lee for 4 runs in the last ball of the 7th over when he pulled him throught mid on, which came just after the ball where razzaq tried to pull another shortish ball but missed and was nearly caught behind, after which he was taken off for lehmann" cant i?

yes unlucky, 1 good ball in the over.
No, It wasn't a good ball.

If Inzamam hadn't lashed at it I doubt it would have been called anything but a wide. The delivery got what it deserved and you folks are forgetting the fact that Inzamam slashed at the ball hard, and at Lee's pace, it aught to have flown easily over the slips [as it did]

Although not that significant he did score a very good 50 in NZ on the worst pitches produced for a while..

Another promising start another disappointment. You can't really call Collins a "promising talent".He's 28 and pretty soon they'll be shipping him out.Seems to me one of either Gayle or Hinds needs to be dropped for a game.I'd say Chris Gayle at the moment. The West Indies have a reasonable bowling side if they get their heads sorted.Collins,Bradshaw,Gayle,Bravo,Dillon,Best,Lawson and Edwards is a pretty good lineup. Also, Rampaul is one.As you might notice, five of those playesr are unable to bowl at the current moment and Dillon's pretty much washed up if you want to call it that because he was never good IMO.

Why would they drop Gayle? He's looked like scoring runs. Hinds has scored a hundred, but at no point in this series has he looked good for runs. Gayle stays if anything.

CH Gayle
BC Lara
WW Hinds
S Chanderpaul
RR Sarwan
MN Samuels
DJJ Bravo
CO Browne
IDR Bradshaw
PT Collins
RD King

Collins has at least 5 to 6 years left in him IMO, possibly more than 7 though, because he's not express.

When was Dillon any good?A few good performances here and there does not a good bowler make.Just an ok one which is what Dillon is.

You're right about Collins but the WICB might look younger after WC2007.He'll have to be on top of his game to stay unlike Dillon who got into the side after being out since the first Windies gaem of the CT.How does that work??

You try bowling consistently well when people drop catches off your bowling regularly and have no support from the other end. For a long time, towards the end of Walsh's career and immediately after he had to carry the attack without any support. His last test tour of Australia was a very good one, all things considered.

hmm if haydens poor run continues should he play in the finals?

Andrew Symonds looks alot more like breaking his drought to me and i reakon will be good in a game or 2 but hayden doesn't even look close, maybe a few games for QLD or even grade might do him some good.

IIRC, Lee's first spell was 4 overs yesterday, too, and he was most certainly bowling really well. Most likely that's a new team plan.
