McGrath should have been player of the tournament, he never got hammered like Lee did in the second Pak vs Aus ODI.

Afridi averaged 38.5? Wow... he really has improved. He's been known for his inconsistency but this whole tournament he was consistent with his usual quick fire 20s and 30s and even a fifty against Australia.

Razzaq's bowling has improved a lot... almost to what it used to be. I was beginning to consider him as a specialist batsmen and a second string bowler.
Lee averaged 43.5 with the bat in this series.
21.3 with the ball at a strike rate of 27.8 and 16 wickets.

And in the games that count (finals) bowled 18 overs taking 4/54

He also played a big part in other games won with both the bat and ball.

Lee deserved to be player of the series for his performance, although not spectacular but a good choice.

The fact that he played at that position means the Australian team management did find some logic in it.
Whether or not the team management thought it logical to play him at number 8 is irrelevant to whether or not he played well, and he didn't.

Inzi is a born loser, someone who lost the test series to Australia and then the oneday finals and will now head to India for another defeat!

I have high respect for some Pakistani cricketers but i consider Inzi a disgrace, coz the guy have neither the brains to lead the side nor has he the balls to come up in the batting order in this fragile Pak team.

How can a youngster respect a captain who stubbornly refuse to bat at one-down slot in onedayer ? a place where he's most needed. The PCB selectors, and former players have all pleaded Inzi to come up the order. And to think such a pansy cricketer is compared to Tendulkar by some fools who unlike Inzi is ready to bat anywhere for his team.

The selection of Azhar Mahmood in the final for just one delivery over Hameed, having Akmal open the innings when 4 openers were in the squad(butt,Hameed,Umar, and Hafeez) speaks volumes of his intelligence.

Why don't you try responding to the other claims vandemataram makes? Can you find fault with any of them? I sure can't.

Because when a person starts with ridiculous, childish phraseology such as that, the rest of the statement scarcely needs to be read.

It happens allot in ODIs, that a guy gets picked as a bowler and doesn't get a bowl, as the situation of the game meant that a part timer (Hafeez) is a better option then a front-line bowler (azhar). The fact that he thought on his feet and gave Hafeez his (Azhar) overs showed he has some intelligence as a captain. The pitch suited Hafeez bowling rather then Azhar.

Inzi isn't the only top batsmen that bats himself lower down the order then he arugubly should. Both Lara and Kallis bat at 4, well Kallis did before the last game, now Gibbs does. The point is there is a reason behind these guys not batting at first drop. It is so they can make the most of the part time bowlers (4th and 5th bowlers). By coming in at 4 or maybe 5 they face majority of the overs from these part timers, and therefore increase the run rate during the middle orders.

Aganist most sides around the world this works pretty well, but not aganist australia. The reason is that australia have better opening bowlers, so the lesser batsmen at the top of the order struggle to hit over the top, lose their wicket or have a slow S/R. Which puts their teams behind the 'eight ball' and places too much pressure on the top batsmen in the middle order.

I personally believe that it doesn't matter where you play Inzamam, those who were in their top 3 (akmal, taufiq, butt etc) would have gotten out anyway, even if they had batted down the order. Inzamam played great at number 5, he shouldn't have to move up the order to fix a problem because he would more than likely create a new problem. It's also not really a long-term solution. I don't know why they persisted with Akmal opening the batting - apart from the century he scored about 50 runs in 5 other innings.

Why is it childish? One does need to question Inzamam's losing ways. He hasn't won a single thing of note as captain and I think Pakistan need to look to other people for the captaincy. Someone like Razzaq perhaps.

lol, maybe Shoaib Akhtar. If given a chance, I think he can be a better captain than how he is right now.
you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! the captain should be someone who is on the field most of the time , not having a lil cry to himself in the dressing room because tendulkar hit him for 3 fours in an over.

yasir hameed is a very talented opening batsman, and should be persisted with, as is salman butt. hafeez should NOT be playing in the upper order. Akmal would be ideal at something like 7, so let's give this a shot

Butt
Hameed
Malik
Youhana/Inzi
Inzi/Youhana
Razzaq
Akmal (dpending on how many overs are left, afridi can be promoted)
Afridi
Hafeez (if malik can't bowl, otherwise play mahmood)
Rana
Rao

Actually I think you'll find Inzi has a very good Oneday record as Captain. I don't actually like him all that much myself...mainly due to his body language, but His winning ratio as captain is actually very impressive.

No need to find the weakness in everyone, mate. No Hayden isn't lanky and that's because he's solid muscle. Bit hard to be thin when you have several layers of muscle on your bones.
yes and i have gone on to say that hes completely unfit and overweight have i?

Fat and bulky is different. Plus Hayden looks a lot bigger on television. He's solid muscle, but he's not as huge as perceived.

And to even compare him to Lehmann is just not on. Plus I'd bet my money Hayden is a lot quicker between the wickets too.
because ive said that he was completely unfit? and maybe he does look bigger on tv, but personally i really wouldnt come close to saying that lehmann was totally unfit either.

Never forget that everyone else but umpires has the benefit of a dozen replays, theories and Hawkeyeisms before they judge the decision and thus, the umpire.
