Damien Fleming reckons Ashwin has the doosra... I wish commentators would stop defining the doosra as anything that turns the other way

Burgey'll be enjoying this. A feature on his favourite player. Looking to get his 4th Ashes Ton in as many Tests. WAFG.

Good side picked. Warner and Watson the wrong way around mind.

Comms saying it's looking flat. 'If you can't bat on this you can't bat anywhere'. Not surprised to find 'burn marks' to be completely fictional.

Gareth Batty bowled some sort of carom ball in the T20 last night and they Sky team kept harping on about it being a doosra. The ball clearly came out of the front of the hand, but they kept going on about it being a doosra and even asked Steven Davies in the post match presentation whether he picked the "doosra".

For those playing at home, 3 barbarians have come out of the team and have been replaced by 3 New South Welshman
4 players in our top 6 who have been associated with Sydney Thunder. Thunder, the breeding ground of the Australia Test team.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that if the pitch is as dry as everyone (other than MacGill) is saying, I actually would pick Starc over Bird. It's still close but I think Starc's ability to get reverse swing and to take the pitch out of the equation would count for more on a dry pitch than the fact that Bird seems to be bowling a little better at the moment. Not too fussed either way though.
Well let's hope that is true rather than being another example of not picking the best bowlers. Starc had better take a bag full here though, whatever the case, because he has been fortunate to have been given so many opportunities, despite not really deserving them.

I know right? the doosra takes extreme skill to bowl, the carrom ball is piss easy, I can bowl it ffs, bowlers like Ajmal deserve some credit

As discussed on the worlds most respected Twitter account (@murf1987), Starc is the right call. Dry pitch, reverse swing. Already have two hit the deck bowlers in Harris and Siddle so if you bring in Bird he has to be at the expense of one of them.
Who's this ****?

Yeah, based on the description of the pitch I'm completely 50/50 over Starc and Bird. Wouldn't be dropping Hughes though.

Sang choi bau and Peking steak, Ashes test starting, won a radio quiz and going to the opera house 30 August to see Dougie Parkinson. Life's good.

Except for Murphy returning.
