*Official Third Test at Headingley* 25-29 August

Instead of getting carried away by their opener's success so far, India should carefully rethink KL's position. Shield him from the vagaries of opening in ENG and have him play at number 3. If you lack the cojones to drop Pujara, then have him open and blunt the new ball before KL comes in.

Headingley these days is a good batting track with decent bounce. I guess Kohli will like playing here. He usually has struggles on softer pitches.
Pujara needs to change his approach as simple as that, you can't afford to miss leg stump half volleys.
Rahane always was a decent option. Was our Highest run scorer in WTC cycle. Scored even at home unlike Pujara who seem to get away with everything despite struggling for 2 years now.

Not someone I have high hopes for but good luck to him. Only has to achieve Not Terrible levels of performance to be an asset right now.

Woakes ruled out for the 3rd Test which is a blow. I hope they give COverton a game in place of Curran.

So Hameed will be opening then. Based on not being Dominic Sibley afaics.

And what on earth has Woakes done to himself? His bruised heel seems to be taking forever to mend. Agreed about Overton.

Whatever it takes!!!
yeah, which means Sam Curran might end up playing by default as they want a better #8 for whatever reason. If the pitch is gonna take spin later and the forecast is good, I would actually suggest them playing Leach.

Burns
Hameed
Malan
Root (c)
Bairstow
Buttler (wk)
Moeen
Robinson
Leach / Mahmood / S Curran
Overton
Anderson

Hard to see Ashwin breaking into the 11 unless the pitch is really dry. Kind of sad that the best spinner around, at the top of his trade, can't get into the team. All 4 pacers did their job at Lords and it is going to be hard to drop any of them considering they did the job with the bat too. Still not convinced with Pujara and Rahane. But it seems like they have extended their career by another couple of series now.

Imagine being Jack Leach. I suppose he won't be 12th manning this time though. Overton in for Curran and Mahmood rather than risking Wood is about the best they can do.

England have replaced Sibley with Malan. I doubt he'll last the three remaining Tests or make the Ashes.
Guessing that Malan will bat 3 and Hameed will open?

You want to disrupt the one thing that's working to make the guy with tech issues open in ENG? If Pujara stays, his best chance is to continue coming in with a hundred on the board, not when it's 0/0.

If Pujara stays, he and Rahane should definitely swap places

Pope back for England should make things interesting
