*enter Federer* ;)

As always, I'm looking forward to the Australian Open, and will be there watching some quality tennis. Secretly I still pray for a Goran Ivanisevic return.

My tip is a Safin vs. Federer rematch from last year. Safin has all the talent in the world, and I want him to stretch the champion, if not beat him. Although it's hard for me to cheer for anyone Federer comes up against (unless Goran returns ).
Safin cant meet federer in the final, its a semi final at best...

Haas has Xavier Mallisse first round, hes always a dangerous floater, but i think he can get through to a possible 4th round meeting with Safin...

yeh alright, i was thinking to do it from the order of play, so each day u should have about a 12 hour period to get tips in, maybe we should have another thread, ill start one on sunday night when mondays order of play is released...

also i think we should only tip on mens, if we do both mens and womens it becomes too much, and theres way too many obscure women in the draw too...

as usual ill give my pre tournament semi final predictions, this may change as Agassi is in doubt and the draw will get changed if he or any other seeds pull out..

Federer vs Haas/Kiefer
Gonzalez vs Roddick

I'll see your semi final & raise you a final - Federer v Hewitt.

Is a Federer v Safin final possible?
no its not, safin is in the same half of the draw as Federer, Roddick and Hewitt are on the other side as the 2nd and 3rd seed...

Ya doing the men would make it less cumbersome for every one. Also the points system, if we put 1 point for round 1 matches, 2 for round 2, 4 for round three and move in G.P. , we can have a closer competition.

Else some one who took a bigger lead in round one would be almost impossible to dislodge at later rounds.

Making your own conversation there Simon?

I'll assume it was in response to Age's post - if so, I think you're underestimating Hewitt, he is playing spectcular at the moment.

Although Hewitt beating Federer is not impossible, that is exactly what everyone said about Hewitt at Wimbledon. "He's playing the best tennis I've ever seen him play". I heard that so many times during the tournament I actually gave Hewitt a chance. In the end Federer mauled him.

Perhaps, but Hewitt is playing better than he did last year.

US open too, Hewitt won titles going in there, Federer absolutely walloped him in the final, same with the Masters Cup, theres only one person who can dictate who would win that final, no matter how well hewitt, or anyone else he is playing, plays on a particular day, if federer wants to win, he will...

Jeese, I just realised I said 'Wimbledon'. I actually meant the US Open final :p That's when the immense praise for Hewitt occurred to all-time levels. Not necessarily undeserved, but Federer put him in place.

In fact, I'd be interested to see The last, say 5-10 matches between Federer and Hewitt. I know Hewitt beat him at the Davis Cup in 2003, but other than that, Federer's won at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open and Masters Cup as far as I can remember.

Woohoo Sania won her first round match pretty easily after the early stutter. She won the last 9 games in a row  and now faces the winner of Mandula and Penetta. Another match which Sania should win if she is connecting the ball well

some interesting results already, Soderling retired against Hrbaty, but he was gone anyway, Phau beat former french open winner albert costa, Federer easily beat Santoro, Scott Draper put up a good fight against Tommy Robredo and Mario Ancic got through easily...
