This is getting ridiculous. I'm staying up to see the end of Marina Erakovic's doubles quarter-final - it's now a preposterous 11-11 in the third. Let me go to bed, FFS.
Good night :p

Bryan/Bryan won 16-14 in the fifth today. Lots of long matches this year, Isner-Mahut an inspiration to everyone. :p

Am in Amsterdam so missed the Fed vs. Tsonga match.

How on Earth did that happen? Tsonga coming back from 2 sets to 0 against Fed absolutely blew my mind!

Bit of a fluke break in the third, then Tsonga started hitting winners from everywhere like it was the 2008 AO.

Nadal just lost a set 5-7 to a Mardy Fish serving at 59 %, which is...bizarre.

You flying back to Australia already?

Tsonga basically sodomised him out of the game after he let him back into the match in the third set.

I wonder how many times Federer has been 2 sets down and gone on to lose?

Tsonga must be mentally incredibly tough to come and win 3 sets in a row, WAG.

Nah my trip has only just started. I was in London for a couple of days (just for Wimbledon, heading back there later for the cricket) and left for Amsterdam yesterday. Hitting some of Western Europe, then back to England, and then Scotland and Ireland before I head home.

Am enjoying my trip very much but would really loved to have watched the Tsonga come back. The fact he did it at Wimbledon makes it that much more incredible.

Once now.
Yep first time in Grand Slams, however Federer has lost twice from 2 sets down previously as far as I know, but both weren't in Grand Slams. Once vs. Hewitt at the Davis Cup in 2003 and once vs. Nalbandian at the World Tour Finals (then called Masters Cup) in 2005.

Fair dinkum Fed choked hard there.

Tsonga the Berdych on 2011?
Did you watch the game mate?

Half way through the fifth set Federer had made nine unforced errors for the match.

Tsonga caught fire. He played incredible tennis.

Can't recall a tennis player of his height and physique who moves so well.

Federer's return game on grass sucks these days (against decent opponents). It's been the case since he struggled to break Nadal in the 2008 final, took upto 16-14 in the fifth to break Roddick's serve in 2009 and then struggled against Berdych last year. Didn't get a breakpoint against Tsonga after his first service game yesterday. Not sure he could have played much better than that on paper though, 57 winners, 11 UFEs, 70% 1st serve. Ah well. :(

Full credit to Tsonga, but you just know he won't play half as well as that in the next round, or if he gets to the final.

Fed played pretty awesome, but I saw someone on another forum saying the UFE count at Wimbledon works differently or something, and gives more leeway. Not sure if that's true but it would make sense because only 11 UFEs in a 5 set match (and being on the losing side!) is pretty absurd.

Yeah, I'd assume the number would be around 25 in reality. Still pretty damn good. Like I said, the problem was he was getting absolutely nowhere on his return games. He used to break big servers like Roddick with ridiculous ease when he was in his prime.

On the Breakfast News on BBC1, the sports presenter (Chris Hollins) said that there's only one match on everybody's lips this morning...and that's Murray beating Lopez.
And he was being serious!
