Melzer up a set and a break against Federer at the Monte Carlo Masters :D:D:D

6-4 5-3.

Federer just made a forehand error when he had break back point, missed and let out the biggest yelp in anger.

Actually it does matter Anil, because people like watching competitive tennis matches. It's not a simple thought of "oh Rafa's going to win so I won't watch". Some people actually enjoy the game.

That was a thoroughly entertaining tennis match. A shame Murray hurt his elbow before the match as well.

it's not a question of whether you watch or not or whether his opponents make it "interesting", there is no one in the current atp tour who can beat him on clay when he is healthy, fit and motivated...of course i am sure it's nice for you that you still feel that edge-of-the-seat excitement when murray takes a set off him...:)

Im sure you are right, but there is still some intrigue to see how the new and improved Novak will go on clay. I'm sure Rafa will beat him, but you never know.

I saw chinks in Rafa's armour last night that were similar to 2009. Now unless he's actually got a bum knee again, which I don't think he has, that is something Novak, Soderling and maybe even Fed will look at to exploit if they get a chance.

Rafa hit the ball short a bit off his forehand more than he usually does. I distinctly remember him doing that in the 2009 clay season a bit. When he did it last night Murray punished him.

He broke Nadal 6 times, and hit 25 winners, 7 more than Rafa himself. That's not normal.

Rafa was a set and a break up against Ferrer in the final, and then Ferrer broke back.

He then had Rafa serving to stay in the second set, at 15-15 and a gimme smash and he fluffed it.

You can't do that **** against possibly the best ever clay tennis player. You just can't.

Ferrer's won the last 4 games against Rafa in the Barcelona 500 final.

from 6-2 2-0 to 6-2 2-4.

Ferrer up a break in the 2nd. Will be very interesting if he forces Rafa into a decider in the final.

Actually it was. Did you watch? Did you see how many deuces were in that Nadal game when he was serving at 3-4 down? Was unbelievable how Ferrer did everything he possibly could to break Rafa again and he still fell short. Rafa was saving break points all match with ridiculous forehands. WAFG.

That must be soul shattering for Ferrer. It really must. Ferrer must truly feel helpless now.
