You know what's amazing, Nadal was up a break in the 4th. So Soderling didn't just play from in front, he came back in both the 2nd (though he lost the set) and 4th as well.

Haven't really been following the French becuase I'd assumed it'd be just another lengthy coronation for Rat Boy, so was very pleasently surprised to see him reported as having been vanquished by Soderling, of all people, on the BBC's site.

Have to ask tho, what happened?

Sodeling was just very, very good. Took the game to Nadal and didn't allow him to dictate the game. Nadal wasn't especially bad (though he wasn't at his best, obviously), Sodeling was just awesome.

Have really mixed emotions about Haas vs Federer tonight, obviously going for Tommy but Feds really deserves a career grand slam and this is his chance, you'd have to think if he doesnt win the French this year then he won't. But on Haas though hes playing well and if he causes an upset tonight then he could possibly win it. Really every player in this draw is a chance now, theres no clay court specialists so to speak so to me whoever wins this tournament will probably be a bit of a shock now.

Plainly this is a decline for Rafa. Lost the final in Madrid, now out early in the French

Didn't even think to watch it tbh. Just always assumed he'd romp into the final, and then win it.

C'mon Fed. Wonder if he'll gas up under the expectation?

My god. Has someone meddled with the clay in Roland Garros and turned it into a Swedish forest? How the frick does some journeyman like Soderling defeat Nadal. Would have thought it had to be some clay-court specialist or Fed himself to dethrone Nadal but Soderling? **** me.

Really opens things up nicely for Fed, no Novak or Rafa but the way things are going in this year's French - Tommy could dispose of him tonight. C'mon Fed now's the time - career Grand Slamit up!

Nadal has Fed's measure on clay so not surprised that it was someone else who could beat him at the French. Maybe Hewitt took the wind out of Nadal's sails in those 20odd games :p

Woke up this morning, and went straight to atptennis.com to make sure that what I saw last night really happened

A lot of tennis experts predicted that if Nadal were to lose at RG it would be unexpected; in the early rounds and against a guy who's not a clay court specialist, which is exactly what happened.

Nadal was acting a little strange prior to Madrid. He'll never admit it, but he pushed himself too hard over the last year. The possbility of going the rest of the year without a GS title will play on his mind now.

Your lack of sensitivity hurts :(

Off topic, did you end up buying Deledio or O'Keefe in your Dream Team? Both gunned it this week.

Deledio, check your profile

Looking at all the men left, I really don't want any of them to win apart from Fed, hope he can pull through.

Really? I think there are heaps of cool players left:

Fed - Obvious reasons, surely this year is his destiny. Will be ridiculous if he doesn't win.
Monfils and Tsonga - so ridiculously extravagant and temperamental that they play entertaining tennis
Gonzalez and Murray - high quality tennis, lots of winners, both made grand slam finals in the past.
Roddick - Genuine hilarious guy
Kohlschreiber - Promising talent
Haas - Won't win, but is so ***y

I am actually a Davydenko fan (though I like a lot of the top 10 tennis players atm, one of my favourite times watching tennis) but I understand why people don't like him, so fair enough. Still the funniest moment ever was watching Davydenko vs. Nadal at the Rome Masters in 07, with the crowd chanting "DAVYDENKO". The most boring man in tennis had a stadium cheering him

Anyone else think Kohlschrieber will beat Robredo tonight? For some reason all the money has come in on Robredo

Robredo beat him in straight sets earlier this year on clay, but still.

Probably shouldn't bet after last night killing me, but Kohlschreiber at 1.90 seems decent.
