Fair play to Baghdatis. Takes Djokovic to a 4th set at least. Family-sized choking from both in the 3rd set tie-break tho. Three points on serve out of twelve!

Djokovic a very annoying young man, it must be said, what with the grunts and the interminable ball bouncing before serve.

FFS. Djokovic breaks in the first game of the fourth. Mockers well and truly put on Baghdatis. Although 0-30 on the Djokovic serve....

Novak is playing the sort of tennis that wins you a grand slam.

Not so great in the first week, everyone is talking about Roger, Rafa and Murray, but he's winning and doing what he needs to do.

If he can not let the pressure get to him as defending champeeeeeen, he can still win this thing.

Great to see Dokic win, but she's not beating Safina.

That Ruskie she was playing is ****ing disgusting. Like an even more unattractive version of Lindsay Davenport.

Few things:

1) Ana is so hot in purple
2) The chick (if you want to call her that) that Ana lost to was grotty. Squeezing the sweat out of her ball of hair almost made my mates vomit
3) Ana fist pumping every point is annoying, and she deserved to go out. Even the commentators were saying its over the point. It loses any effectiveness if you do it every point, especially when the opposition makes an error
4) Wawrinka :(
5) Marat :(
6) I love Marat, always have and always will, especially when he implodes. But I feel he went too far having a crack at the linesman during the centre line foot fault. The guy in the crowd that yelled "Suck it up princess" was right, and when he started saying the linesman made the call because he wanted to get on TV, it was pretty stiff. He was right up in his face too.
7) Seriously surprised at Dokic's win. Good on her.
Lol, she indeed did it again!

****ing enjoyed that match. Had money on Djokovic to win 3 sets to 1. Still wanted to see it go for 5.
Yep same. Great match of tennis. Fair play to Baghdatis, worked his guts out to try and win, great effort from him. That said, Novak is a **** and a half.

I don't think so. He's not poised ominously having not yet hit top gear, he's been in shocking form for a long time now. His showing against Baghdatis wasn't that of a man going through the motions and conserving energy for the latter stages, it was that of someone badly lacking in confidence squeezing past someone whose game's in and even worse shape than his is. He doesn't look like he's enjoying the game in the slightest anymore. Considering his run to the final will be Roddick, probably followed by Federer, i'd say it's very unlikely that he'll retain it.

He'd much rather face Roddick in the quarters than Del Potro, Tsonga (if his back is alright and he's fit) or Simon.

I reckon he has the best quarters draw in the Open personally. I'm a Roddick fan, he's a top bloke, but he's a guy who has come to terms with the fact he's not going to win a Slam ever again. I'll be seriously surprised if he loses to him. Remember Roddick's choke at the US Open?

Hehe.

2003 a while ago now.

Would be cool if he won a Slam again, but he hasn't progressed since then enough. He and Ferrero looked like the future of tennis in 2003 :(

BARNES OUT
He (IMO, obv) would've won Wimbledon if not for that rain delay. He was irresistable that day, and with the way he was coming at Fed with fast service games (in both senses, speed and time) and big forehands deep into the court, Fed was done and dusted.

All trivial now though I suppose, and who's to say he wouldn't have turned it around without the rain (or whether Roddick would've choked).

Yeah that was a good final actually. Played some sublime tennis in that first set, and Roger didn't (yet) have that invincible aura about him. I reckon it only came by the end of 2004, so Roddick would have backed himself.

Btw, could Gonzo have had a tougher draw? Hewitt, Canas, Gasquet and now Nadal. Pretty stiff for a guy seeded 13.

He'd be wishing today's match vs. Nadal was a night match. He needed a longer rest.
