just watching the final now, looks like Murray will take it out in straight sets.

Whats with the court colour though, its really bad for picking the ball up on tv, must be something to do with sponsors?
Doesn't help that the camera is sixty miles away from the players, either.

Decent work Murray :)

Wow, Serena serves to Stosur, ball clearly clips the net but the umpire doesn't call it a let. Serena didn't bother playing the return of Stosur and loses the point, giving Stosur a break point. Stosur then breaks.

Odd.

Stosur then wins the second set, and is a break up in the third.

Haha, what's with Aussie women's tennis players and choking? Dellacqua and Stosur both throwing away winning positions countless times this week. Piss poor.

That being said, as I've posted about many times in this thread, Serena Williams is the best tennis player in the world at match point down. She just won't lose, you have to beat her. Proved it on many occasions, particularly here in Australia.

Thoughts on Verdasco? Looked pretty good against PHM today.
Very rarely serves a fault.
Verdasco is total gun, been saying it for nearly two years. One of the best of the rests imo, just needs some consistency. Tipping him to make the Masters Cup this year.
Yeah you called him ages ago. Reckon you're right about the Masters Cup.

Is he better than Gilles Simon or Del Potro though?

Simon yes, i rate him too but I think hes 5-10 on at very best, Verdasco and Del Potro are both potentially top 5. Think Del Potro may be slightly better but Verdasco is very good.

Hopefully he can beat Stepanek here, who has been very annoying this tournament.

That being said, fair play to him always coming back from losing the first set. It seems he just gets in the face of his opponent and puts them off his game. Worked with Soderling, Gasquet and working atm with Verdasco.

Verdasco a break down in the third and needs to break back early IMO.

Verdasco losing the plot. Looks gone here.

Lol @ us talking him up and then this happens.
Its the only weakness in his game (albeit a major one), he's basically just like another Gonzalez in so many ways.

Choked again?

Anyway, I'm sure you meant "Australian Tennis is going down the ****er" in which case I AWTA, sadly.

Nah no choke, just played ****house.

Lost 6-1 6-2 to Sara Errani, and didn't look in it the whole match.

Shes rubbish, most years theres been at least one Australian briefly rise from mediocrity to put in a decent performance at the open and then go back to being ****, its happened to Alicia Molik, Nathan Healey, Peter Luczak, Chris Guccione (in Sydney last year), theres always someone and at the 08 open it was Dellacqua.

Nishikori retired with an arm injury in the first set of the first round match against JC Ferrero here in Auckland today. Hope he'll be alright for next week.

Yeah sucked that he's got injured. His rise last year was awesome. Would love to see him at the Open.

I know she's mid-shot, but still, Safina = tank. Probably the one that punched her brother Safin and gave him the black eye.

Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the Australian Open with a shoulder injury according to the BBC....so she wont be defending her title this year...
