*** Official *** Tendulkar criticism thread

Well if a mod had changed the title of this thread to ***Official*** Sachin Tendulkar Congratulations Thread and stickied it to the top of the page you'd have a point there, but no-one did. Both the title of the thread and the opening post play their parts in setting out what the thread is about and as soon as I read Daemon's OP I had nothing but disdain for the whole thread in general. Tour threads are a different beast as they have an official status that has to be granted. Frankly I don't see this as a celebratory congratulations thread at all; I see this as the official trolling and bickering thread for the incident as was set out in the first post, which is why I haven't posted in it at all other than is this debate.
You're being awfully pedantic about the thread labelling. There have been threads shut down at the outset if the moderator considered it a troll/bait thread. And what incident are you referring to?

I'm always amused by how defensive people get over what should be a trivial, and fun, comparison between two careers separated by forty odd years. From a purely technical perspective, I doubt there is anything separating the two, or for that matter many of the legendary batsmen of the past fifty years. So all you have is Bradman's obscene stats garnered against four countries in two countries versus someone's prodigious run getting and appetite across continents, time, and formats. I don't think it's "cricketing ignorance" to imagine Bradman's statistics depreciating significantly if he had played in the modern era as opposed to Tendulkar's appreciating if he'd played in the Don's time.

Should have merged it with the other 4 threads there are to troll about Sachin either way then and someone could have atleast started a serious one without all this bull****.

Btw, remember threads about other players getting closed for "Intelectual dishonesty" once few people got riled up let alone trolling galore in 4 different threads.

Because it goes against all sense of propriety and brings in an argument that needn't exist here. This is a celebratory thread. They'll have lots of opportunities to bring this stuff up elsewhere, because lets face it, they will anyway.
Bollocks. It's been a troll thread since the first post.

If you all called him "Tendulkar" instead of "Sachin", a lot of this would go away because you'd all sound less like a pack of screaming 12 year old girls at a Bieber concert.

I have merged some posts from another thread here. My apologies if it makes following the post order a little hard to understand.

I really, really don't want to a) seem like I'm trying to run down a champion like Tendulkar or b) start having to talk in ****ing combined format stats all the time, but saying that 100 centuries = 90 Michelles is utter cobblers. It's statistically much, much harder to take five wickets in a ODI than it is to score a century - only two blokes have ever even hit double figures.

If you have to try to draw a comparison - everyone is going on about how much further ahead of the next bloke Tendulkar's tally of centuries is, so that's what you have to look at for the bowling equivalent too. Which shows that Murali's 77 is ****ing insane.
It's not exactly as cut and dry as that though. ODI centuries aren't much much easier, it depends on your batting position as well. Tendulkar has had the opportunity to bat at the top for a considerable period which obviously helps. But there are 2 guys with 10k+ ODI runs who have 12 and 13 ODI centuries only in Dravid and Kallis. Yuvraj Singh has been playing forever and still only has about 10 or 12. Definitely ODI hundreds are easier, but not to the extent that your saying. If you want you can even use 4-wicket hauls for ODI's instead of 5 to offset the difficulty level between an ODI ton and ODI 5-fer. Which takes Murali's stat to 92, which is incredible as well. And I don't think anyone is denying that statistically Murali is a giant. Both Tendulkar and Murali's tally of centuries and 5-fer's are head and shoulders above the second best. In any case my post was actually in response to HB and why 1000 wickets didn't get as much "attention".

Whatever it takes!!!
You have some very interesting facebook friends btw. :p
they are really good people in general but when discussing Sachin, it just goes down to hyperbole territory. I am sure you have seen that old pic when there are excuses lined up for everyone of his 100s where the pitch was tough or the bowling was the greatest ever or he had an injury so bad he could not pick up a cricket bat... That was brought up about 10 times yesterday..

The OP was so obviously trollish and absurd that it was more of a joke post rather than to bait people. As if people believe I actually think Tendulkar is by far the best batsmen ever and all that. Can't believe the fuss over this, grow up people.

This thread was meant for Tendulkar criticism not of fans or media. So can all the posts be moved again somewhere else?

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar!! Your 100th 100 was an absolutely magical achievement! SRT has broken so many records that are unlikely to ever be broken again. Just an amazing performance from one of the greats. He deserves everything that comes his way.
