Yeah, Bumble clearly ODing on Sanatogen tonight. Was an awful innings. "Be there at the end: leaving it all to the blokes at the other end"

congrats England.. India fought hard but under the conditions with our pop gun attack, no total was ever safe as long as England played half decently. Morgan was just sublime. And KP's knock was crucial too.
Don't think our LOI attack is too bad tbh.

The batting faliure after the start and at the End cost us.

Bresnan & Dernbach did really well at the death too. India were looking at 180-190 before their last 5 wickets collapsed, we'd never have chased that.

Guess if you played Stokes instead of Bopara and moved Buttler to 6 ahead of Patel it would look better. I understand Stokes can't bowl at the moment though?
Yes, hopefully when Stokes is good to ball that#'s the way it will work out, really wanted to see Buttler today, I'm sure he'll play against WI and show what he can do.

Few areas of concern for England's T20 side still. But the inclusions of Patel for Yardy and Dernbach into the side has made up a lot stronger than we were.

Need 2 openers though! Opening bowler and an opening batsman!
Yardy's a more reliable bowler, which is what you want from a 5th bowler really. Unless you already have 5 good bowling options already. I feel like it's only a matter of time before Patel gets lined up and hammered, he's too liable to cough up a huge over which can turn the game on its head. So I feel Yardy of sound mind > Fatel.

Generally speaking I agree the bowling is a bit light in the first 6, or not balanced properly. I'd prefer it if the seamers bowled 3/2/1 overs in that spell, with Dernbach being the 1 over, keep him back for the death. Still feels a bit light but Stokes when he can bowl again might help with that situation indirectly.

Sammy's a much better limited overs batsman tho, so it's swings and roundabouts.

This has been the story this year for us when it comes to Limited Over Cricket. Had some great starts in WC also only to see us fail to capitalize in last overs, same thing happened today. We are much better chasing targets.

Another series washout for us as this was one off T20

He doesn't really have a role. He's not an out and out hitter for the late order and he's not really good enough for higher up the order where England have plenty of options. So no matter where he plays the net difference between him and Yardy is pretty minimal.

Patel can do the Yardy darting it in, maybe not as effective, he also bowls a decent yorker length ball when the batmen are coming at him. Yardy's probably a little bit more economical that Sam though but with Sam's extra batting, it's swings and roundabouts.

Jade has much less of a South African twang than I expected. A little bit ****ney, actually.

Patel's a much better bat down the order, it's not even close, I've seen him play some really good late order hitting for Notts, you don't get that from Yardy.

I dunno. Yardy's done it a fair bit at County level too, its whether we can see innings like the one today a bit more often from Samit at international level, which I guess we'll find out.

I hate Yardy's bowling like poison but in terms of actual effectiveness he's been an awesome T20 bowler. Comfortably better than Patel (by a far bigger margin than their difference in batting) and he's honestly pushing Swann too if we're going to stop pretending that proper cricket skills translate completely to T20. I'm quite happy that he doesn't get picked anymore because I'd rather pull my teeth out than watch him bowl another stupidly effective four over spell but his dumping's ridiculously harsh if England's T20 team is meant to be a true representation of the best T20 players in the country.

pleased that dhoni lost.

Did you see how angry he was when the Umpire ruled the first ball of the last over wide even though it was in?
At that moment I wondered where his aggression and pride was back in the Test series. All I seem to recall of dhoni from the tests is having a smile, looking jaded, being pleased with team's performance in the press conferences etc..

Wasn't dumped he wanted time away from international cricket due to depression I believe, then it all becomes a different story about whether you make him a fixture in the side.
