Pollock will definitely not play

And either Vettori or Kallis will sit out, depending on the pitch
Pollock will definitely play, either Harmison or Akhtar will not

Of the fabled middle order, Tendulkar will sit out because he has not recovered well enough from whatever it is that will keep him out of the match.

Vettori to score a match-winning century from #9.

Mate, you've missed the mark by many a mile.

Too bad we'll have to wait until October to see who's right :)

Team balance, mate, team balance.

I'll give you the Vettori one, though ;)

Barring Flintoff, who's not under discussion, none of the pacers is known for taking truckloads of wickets against Australia

Remember it's a 6-day Test on a traditionally spin-friendly wicket. I definitely expect a winner, but wouldn't want to point to a favourite. Warne vs. Murali!

yeah... I know the odds are very small, but if Dravid digs in and Langer does the same for them and everyone bowls crap..... *dreams on*

It will be interesting to see what side australians pick, at the moment i would have to say aussies are favourites, Smith against Ponting? well lets see....i just dont think smith has enough expereince at that level.

who says its just picjked on batting and bowling!!!! Gibbs is a very good ODI batsman and is a very fine fielder..cant see the problem.

Smith also is a fine captain
i cant see any reason why gibbs should be in the ODI side ahead of dravid.

Ponting is hardly the doyen of captains either though.

How hard can it be for Smith in this match? For his plans, just ask Channel 4 for a copy of one England's Ashes bowling performances! At least for the Aussie top-order anyway!

firstly i dont see why they Put Smith to lead the test side or Pollock to lead the ODI side, Lara should be leading both.

And for god's sake why is Pietersen & Gibbs in the ODI sqaud over Inzi & Dravid

Pietersen, Akhtar, Tendulkar (no recent matchplay, let alone form) etc

They've gone for the glamour players

And frankly, for an event such as this, I like it

why is everyone keep talking about australia's ashes performance so far? guys ashes is far from over and its not that they've lost it, still 1-1 and i think australia still has equally good chance of wiining it, england couldnt even get rid of tail enders almost twice, they are fabolous side and will be tough to beat in super series.

What on Earth??..No Inzy?...Wow! that's a big blow. I thought selection was based on last 1-2 year performance, so howcome Tendu made ahead of Inzy?..That guy's tennis elbow is uncurable. His legendary form has come to an end..Why don't you understand ICC? I know he's a great player, but recently he hasn't played much cricket, so ICC or Gavaskar shld i say, should haven given Inzy a go. And what 6 South Africans are doing over there? what is Pietersen doing over there? and and man i have a big list, can't post all of them, so will conclude with "Totally biased and flawed selection!"

for the sake of public interest Sachin Tendulkar has to play regarding his performaces over the last 2 years, plus how do you know is elbow injury is incurable, thats weird mate :p

Inzamam's ODI record against Australia is nothing home to write about (some really crazy pitches were produced in the Benson Hedges series of the early and mid 90's) - though it has imporved a lot of late.
