QdK needs to go on a tonk now.
Doing a Morne Morkel... Hyped early as a decent batsmen for a tail ender, but never really developed.Rabada has been next to useless with the bat for a while now. Can definitely bat but on current form 9 is too high for him.
Pretty sure he is batting 11 today...I dont think Olivier is in the team....
Shows how much I'm concentrating... or not.Pretty sure he is batting 11 today...
Now you know how others feel getting out to philanderA bit generous?
This is horrible for batsmen though, just know that if you get out to this pace bowling when your team are in trouble would be awful.
What would you look to do for a top 7 ?No pressure on them though and you just want to see some guys who have a plan against spin and can bat time. The batting last year in Sri Lanka was awful and on that showing, 3 figures would be a challenge in India.
The gloves need to go to whoever's the best keeper. Verreyne and Qeshile look like they have the potential to make the team just on the strength of their batting, in which case they should play as specialist batsmen if their keeping isn't as good as De Kock's.I don't think we should take the gloves away from QDK, he is an excellent keeper and bats well at 6.
Asked to stay on and WC?What would you look to do for a top 7 ?
Amla situation confuses me. If he was going to retire why even stay for a series like this ? Hamza could have played and added to his experience.
Clearly de Bruyn being kept around the squad for Faf's position.
Elgar, Markram, Hamza, de Bruyn, Bavuma, QdK, Mulder
Bavuma and de Bruyn on a really short leash though. Elgar needs a genuine a challenger. Not convinced it is either of the Malan brothers (just something I can't get myself convinced by). Want to see why Eddie Moore is scoring 4-day runs though.
Two different formats though.Asked to stay on and WC?
Breetzke for Elgar sooner rather than later if Elgar continues on like this. We have been struggling to fill opening positions for as long as I've been watching cricket (which is a long time)*
*not Burgey long though....
Don't disagree but still team environment, don't think that Amla would be in either teams if he retired from Tests. Not like Duminy. Particularity if you consider Markram and Reeza being around. Two different formats though.
But I do think Faf enjoys having another senior senior figure like him around.
The right thing to do is defimitely retire from tests after this series.
ODI issues are anothing thing with Reeza/Markram etc
Agree with this. I think for now they should get on the SA A squad and share the keeping duties and see how they perform. Think it is a more medium to long-term thing for them. The gloves need to go to whoever's the best keeper. Verreyne and Qeshile look like they have the potential to make the team just on the strength of their batting, in which case they should play as specialist batsmen if their keeping isn't as good as De Kock's.
I've only recently come to terms with the idea he is in an SA squad but you probably have to put him in the SA A 4-day squad and see how it goes. But like you say he has a record of not converting and his LBW dismissals are massively high.Does vd Dussen come into the picture since he's taken his L/O opportunity so well? Apart from a poor conversion rate, has been pretty consistent as a 4-day franchise player.
The old South Africa had AB and a world class Amla. If those two were taken away, the old South Africa too would have looked vulnerable. Are we the new 'Old Pakistan', bowl very well, but cant bat
Seriously you are like the Grim ReaperDe kock is an awesome keeper. And he is scoring. Its the only part of our batting that is 100%. I actually think he might get worse with the bat if you took the gloves. He would likely feel a bit of pressure and hr is not oe that rises to it.
Im sorry but this whole name a teams best players and then say if they are not there then the team will suffer is a silly game. The old South Africa had AB and a world class Amla. If those two were taken away, the old South Africa too would have looked vulnerable.
