A bit generous?

This is horrible for batsmen though, just know that if you get out to this pace bowling when your team are in trouble would be awful.
Yes it is horrible, pretty sure they’d rather have some proper pace on the ball to work with rather some gentle swinging dobbers. That said, personally think that despite his wicket of du Plessis he would’ve been better going to specialist bowler straight after lunch, de Kock has had the luxury of being fed some fairly ordinary stuff to help get him in.

I suppose what I meant by genuine medium-pace was sort of 100-110ks stuff. Chris Harris would be one that immediately springs to mind

I think medium pace as 120 km/h.... more Philander-ish.

That looked a bit lazy from Markram again. Hoping for something good from Mulder and QDK needs to bat through the innings now.

I've always felt we should prioritise de Kock's batting, even if it means him not keeping - AB style.

He's probably our best batsman in this team in terms of talent, and I wish we'd groomed him as a genuine test opener - de Kock/Markram would have us set in that department for years.

Particularly with Qeshile coming through, and guys like Verreynne too.

Unfortunately our batting is currently too poor, and his too strong, to fiddle around with his position in the line-up.

There has been concerns for a while but its probably what we needed to start the re-set in the batting composition for me. Pity next test series is in India of all places for the newbies but so be it.

Time to move on from Second/Klaasen and get Verreynne/Qeshile in that SA A mix as the wk/batsman. Some fighters who grew up on some coastal wickets.....

They become serious contenders now and Stephen posed the question a little while back.

Absolutely agree with SeamUp. Sometimes you need to fail to really uncover your problems. Hamza and Mulder have to be given long runs now.

I may be wrong but when you watch Mulder it looks like batting came after the bowling. All looks a bit stiff the batting.

No pressure on them though and you just want to see some guys who have a plan against spin and can bat time. The batting last year in Sri Lanka was awful and on that showing, 3 figures would be a challenge in India.

Rajitha is bowling bloody well. Still getting the ball to move. Expect the South African quicks to bowl nice and short on a slow wicket.

I don't think that these problems needed uncovering... they have been pretty well known. Bowlers just kept saving their asses. May still do it again.

Hamza and Mulder coming in though doesn't change that Faf and Elgar are struggling and Bavuma needs to get bigger scores and stop getting out in stupid ways. I don't think we should take the gloves away from QDK, he is an excellent keeper and bats well at 6.

Rabada has been next to useless with the bat for a while now. Can definitely bat but on current form 9 is too high for him.
