I think Seifert is in the ODI team as a backup opener if Munro turns to **** this season. Either that or just give Phillips a go I think.
Yeah that's another permutation, though I think they'll stick with Munro up top and try Seifert somewhere 5-7 first. If Munro strings together more failures they'll have to reconsider his position though.

If anyone in this team has earned a cheeky downhill skiing session it's Nicholls. His emergence as a genuine test-class replacement for McCullum is close to the biggest development for NZ in 2018.
Certainly has earned it. Travelled some pretty steep hills against SA, Eng & Pakistan.

Couldn't think of a better suited cricketer than CdG to come in and cash in on situations like this.

Geez Colin, 38* off 18 and barely looks like he's got out of first gear.

Doesn't score runs any other time but yeah, if you want a quick biff to set up a declaration he's perfect.

Excuse my ignorance if I've missed something, but why isn't CDG considered for the ODI squad? The funny looking prick can absolutely belt the ball.

nah, his scrap to help us draw against england was a turning point tbh. very messy in his first overseas tour to the uae but i think people tend to overstate his flaws because he was probably picked as a "can clearly bat, let's see if tests teach him the value of his wicket" prospect.

He's being rested from the ODI series - even though there's still some question marks over his ODI performances esp. in tight situations, he's still better than every other finisher we've tried so I think is already nailed-on for the WC squad.

Sri Lanka must be so ****ing sick of this. Saw Lakmal was down to 115km/h earlier.

Going to be hard for their openers after so long in the field.
