Blewett reckons Vaas' career average of 29 is impressive because he played so much cricket in SL which is a spin friendly country

nevermind that he averaged 26 in SL and 32 away. Just goes to show that things aren't always as simple as they seem

The first cover drive by Burns last over was shot of the day for mine. Jeez he’s crisping them now.

Good practice for Burns here heading into the Ashes, given these blokes bowl about the same pace as Anderson and Broad.

Always a good achievement for an opener to bat an entire first day of a test. Good luck to Burns. Hope he kicks on and makes the spot his own for a good while now.

Usman will need a very good back end to the shield season, because I can’t see him getting another hit his match and there’s no more tests until the Ashes.
Holy hell, that shot today. Bloke is cooked eh.

Joe Burns, WAG!!!

Not sure how big the Ashes squad is normally but can’t help but if it’s 16 they should pick:

Harris, Burns, Warner, Khawaja, Smith, Maxwell, Head, Patterson, Stoinis, Paine, Wade, Lyon, Holland, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Richardson and Siddle.

I have no doubt they’ll pick Labu**** though.

Woeful from Sri Lanka after the first half an hour. Especially when you had the opposition 3/28.

Should score at least 500 here.

I thought Sri Lanka bowled well enough in the first hour or so but the batting was poor, and even then Fernando was consistently bowling too wide. The disintegration was dramatic though. Is there seriously no one in the SL camp who was watching and thought that they needed to try bowl at the stumps? They seemed to bowl everything but a good line and length, and when Fernando took the new ball he went straight to bowling it three-fifths of the way along the crease again.

Sri Lanka need a few years playing Afghanistan and Ireland level test teams. They are absolutely filthy at the moment. Shame.

Top day for burns and head. That burns cover drive was exquisite.

Hope burns goes large tomorrow.

Usman is so damned stiff at the ease. Not only are his feet planted he doesn't either bother to bend his knees to get to the ball. He just reached for his dismissal today from his full height.
