Khawaja learnt nothing from when he played Perera in SL in 2016; in fact, pretty sure he was dismissed exactly the sa.e way on that tour.

I forgot uzzy playing
If his play against Moeen at Brisbane last Ashes was any indication, it doesn't need to turn at all.

The difference is those pitches turned. He had plenty of opportunity to watching him bowling low bouncing straight breaks to Harris, yet plays that.

Nah you guys got it wrong, Khawaja conquered spin last year. Don't let 7/10 spin dismissals on the slap this summer persuade you otherwise.

Strange thing about Khawaja is that he's pretty good against leg-spin (see his record against Yasir Shah and Pakistan); it's offices that he always looks all at sea against.

Must run in the family. His brother had more than a bit of trouble at the office lately.

Is Young Will going to the person that makes Australian cricket fans plus the lazy media understand you can't just get a county gig?

The rules are 1 test in the last 2 years or 5 in the last 5 years. There's a number for ODIs/T20s which I've posted before but don't know off the top of my head

Michael Vaughan actually suggested he should've been selected for a Test here just so he could get one. As crazy as that suggestion is I was happy he at least knew the rule.

It's since led to a couple of articles on foxsports. One of them said it was "a new rule". Presumably Peter Siddle is a new player too since it dates from around the time of his debut...

Here's hoping our batsmen can kick on and at least one of them can score a century.

Matty Hayden spoke a lot of sense earlier, saying that modern batsmen were reluctant to play in the V at the start of their innings and were too boundary reliant.

Almost certainly the boundary reliance comes from the combination of modern bats and t20 cricket. Small grade boundaries are easier to reach than ever before so batsmen aren't being trained to put the ball into the gap for twos.

Having watched Bevan's huge score against the Asia XI the other night the one thing that was clear watching it was that he was capable of smashing the ball to and over the boundary but most of his runs were from well placed shots with very soft hands. Some of the shots he played to Murali were very soft defections fine down to third man for four. I'd like to see that kind of play encouraged right the way up from the junior level.

Picking sloggers might win you a few games but it's easier to train an elegant player to hit big shots than it is to train a slogger to place the ball well.

That's really weird if the "reluctant to play straight early" thing is true. Goes against everything I was taught even at a low level.
