The discussion is about hazlewood having a stress fracture and begin replaced, and you’ve said the tour has been very satisfying in the midst of that. Hence my asking

The only way this can get any funnier is if the only top 5 batsman not in the test squad gets a century in each innings lol

Patterson has a better FC record than Labushagne and Puvoski anyway so the selectors really stuffed this up

I didn't know that and didn't read the posts. Didn't get to watch any of the odi games too. Just saw scoreline and posted here.

So Thiri will open I think SL will go with 1.) thiri 2.) Dimuth 3.) DDS 4) Mendis 5) Chandimal 6) Roshen 7)Dickka 8) Dilruwan 9) Rajitha 10)Lakmal 11) Kumara

Do or die situation for Thiri really. Can Rosheen succeed in these kinds of pitchers.?
Surely they’ll have Chameera as 3rd steamer with kumara and lakmal

Based on the squad selected, I'd go this for the first test

Harris
Burns
Khawaja
Labushagne
Head
Pucovski
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Richardson
Lyon

Agree. Just not sold on Renshaw. Yes I think it’s fair to judge him on this years form. Makes a lot more sense to me than selecting him on form shown in previous seasons. Not convinced about Burns either but he’s got more runs this year and that settles it. Looking forward to Richardson playing. Hopefully he will.

Yep, hard to argue Renshaw should be there, regardless of my feelings about Pukovski. Just hasn't been the same since he was passed over for the UAE.

If Patterson shows that sort of form when the Shield resumes then he will be well in the discussion for the Ashes.
There's no discussion as he should be playing even now. If all are fit, ideally the Ashes top six should be

Renshaw/Harris
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
KP
Head

That is actually pretty decent given what they have now
