*Official* Sri Lanka in South Africa 2020/21 Tests

My favourite SA Schools in team in the last decade. 2016.

Main guys. Going to be a lot of Proteas here.

Back Row : Qeshile (Warriors), Breetzke (Warriors), Cohen (Cobras/Derbyshire), Mnyaka (Cobras)
Front Row : van Tonder (Knights), Mulder (c) (Lions & SA), Sipamla (Warriors/Lions/SA), de Swardt (Dolphins)

de Swardt chose cricket over rugby but Schreuder in the back row already plays professional rugby for the Stormers.

I saw on wiki the other day Curtis Campher went to the same school as Mulder too.

Judging by the birthdates he was maybe the year behind though.

St Stithians College have definitely done their bit for world cricket as (apparently) Michael Lumb, Grant Elliot & Brandon Glover (current Dutch international) are all alumni too.

Indeed. This recent generation has been a bit of a joke. Normally something their neighbours King Edward VII do.

Think Roy Pienaar, Dave Rundle, David Terbrugge were the main international players in the 80s/90s

But this recent generation. It has to be pretty unique. Like you say, a couple already playing international even if for smaller nations and all those guys are in "potential Protea" category and who knows Ricardo could be in the potential England category one day.

1995: Kagiso Rabada
1996: Ryan Rickelton , Marques Ackerman
1997: Curtis Campher , Ricardo Vasconcelos , Brandon Glover
1998: Wiaan Mulder, Josh Richards
1999: Wandile Makwetu

A win is a win as they say and SA need to start somewhere.

Lakmal hopefully back for SRL next test. Can't ask for more as a seamer being at the Wanderers.

The coaching staff of SL should bury their heads in shame. So should be the selectors.

For current, O. Fernando, Rajitha, DDS, Kumara, Chandimal all are injured. Lakmal is touch and go. The ones who are replacing these guys are made of glass. Especially ones like Chameera. We might need to field two spinners just in case if someone breaks down in the middle of the test. If Hasaranga is fit he and Dilruwan may be the ones to play. Otherwise it would be Embuldeniya and Dilruwan.

The only plus points I see is Vishwa Fernando, who ran in the whole day. He should be persisted with. Provided Oshada, Lakmal and Hasaranga are fit we may see a line up of

Karunarathne, K. Perera, O. Fernando, K. Mendis, Thirimanne, Shanaka, Dickwella, Hasaranga, D. Perera, Lakmal, V.Fernando

This is probably the fittest possible Xi we have.

The other issue we have is that our top order are wicket keepers. Kusal Perera, kusal Mendis, Chandimal, Minod Bhanuka all are keepers. 20 years back we had a top order of non keepers (other than for Sangers), like Jayasuriya, Dilshan, De Silva, Russell Arnold and Mathews who bowled quite a bit allowing us to select only four bowlers and to keep them relatively injury free. Vaas and Murali being supremely fit and being relatively injury free helped as well, but no one was overbowled because the top and the middle order used to deliver insane number of overs for us. Now that is not happening.

U19 Captain
Anrich Nortje needs to sit down and really have a look at the lengths he's bowling. He's far too short. He was comfortably the worst bowler in our side. I really like the pace he's bowling at but if he could get a little consistency, he'll be a handful.

It is actually the case. It is sad to see that the fitness instructor Villavarayan 45+ is still fitter than all the players. This was a team which bragged about fitness geeks like Jayasuriya, Vaas, Murali, Sangakkara and Jayawardane. Aravinda, Chandana, Dharmasena, Herath, Atapattu etc were not slouches either when it comes to game fitness.

too much clubbing, too much women, too much money and too much booze is the main reason.
You can never have too much of any of those things

Only Javed Omar and Mike Brearley average less than him from positions 1-6 to have played more than 30 tests.

When is Rabada back for SA? And what's the latest on the Australian tour to SA. As a Kiwi I'd rather play India if we make the final, so want Rabada around to take out the Aussies.

For Pakistan starting end of January.

Nothing new. CA said they want to do everything possible to play the series in SA but if they have to make arrangements for Perth then they will do so.

That's a test tour though innit? Playing a whole suite in Perth would be interesting
