I think they should drop Martin...not only to bring someone in better form in, but also because Martin seems to come back much better every time he gets a recall. Seems to be a bit of a wake-up call for him.

Really hope Fleming has a good series. He has got a few more years to retirement but it would be a shame for him to finish with an average under 40. For a player like him, his average should be more in the mid 40's, and a couple of hundreds in this series might help that out. Lets face it.....we are not playing much test cricket over the next few years, so ...........

This may seem unpatriotic but I am hoping that the other batsmen , Cumming, How, and Sinclair, have a poor series so that we can discard their names once and for all. Maybe not How, because he is young and has a long way to go, but I have an awful feeling that if Sinclair, in particular has a good series then his name might come up for the one dayers that follow and maybe even be in the world cup reckoning, at the expense of Taylor or Vincent.........I can just imagine Bracewell doing something like that.

I think that even if Sinclair has a good test series we won't push him into the middle order for the ODI's where we already have some quite good players. In other news, I bought a small transmitter radio so I can listen to the cricket while I am working on the farm. I also heard that next season 2007/2008 New Zealand will be playing 10 test matches, I think it was Martin Sneddon who said it.

I think we're playing South Africa in South Africa again (wtf?), and then a home and away series to England. I guess thats where our 10 tests will come from.

Question, this is the first time two Twenty20 are being played on one tour I believe right?

Good to see this is being shown in the UK. More cricket to watch :)

Thats true. In general, SL and NZ tours are not shown in the uk that often. I guess Sky Sports is now buying all the rights for every tour. Hopwfully, It'll remain like this!

Yeah good stuff, should be a good series. Be nice to Shane Bond play a test match as well, don’t think I have ever seen him play in the longer form of the game.

I was listening to a podcast from NZ cricket and an interview with Martin Sneddon said something like they have planned many more tests after the world cup and they will put a greater emphasis on them after the world cup.

Snedden barely played tests, so we know where his loyalties lie. Won't be surprised if Bracewell AND Snedden get the flick after the World cup.

Mason is out injured. It's rather strange... the CricInfo article seemed to suggest that Mason was going to be selected ahead of Franklin. Why would Franklin be dropped given how good his record is?

Because he's not a very good ODI bowler, that's the mentality of Bracewell and the selectors.

Braces will go but what's Sneds done wrong?

A) Its a joke
B) Sri Lanka, we only got like four Lankan on this fourm. The more support the better.
A/ Because in the eyes of NZ and Australia and to a lesser extent England , SL are not yet an established Test nation - as far as they are concerned we are not worthy of being afforded 3 Tests in their great cricketing nations - we are still upstarts  as far as these 3 countries go. (England only just recently afforded us the luxury of 3 tests for which are indeed grateful )

B/ Can't agree with you more . Besides Silent Striker needs to consider this, I and most SL support India after SL. So that's a bloody good reason for SS to support SL. :)

TBF its all to do with money not our status as established Test Nation. Sri Lanka doesn't bring enough people through the gates when we play Tests, but were a good chance of a sell out when it comes to ODIs.

I always thought Kiwis were great sporting people, but some have started resorting to the great Australian Mind games strategy again -such as the likes of Tony Veitch on Radio Sport and some of his colleagues.(ie Ian Smith etc.)

I say this because they have resorted to digging up the same old skeleton from the closet about Murali being "a Chucker " etc..
Pretty disappointed to be honest. This is the sort of thing you expect from Aussies before any Test or ODI with their huge Media Bandwagon and back room Spin doctors working overtime - expected much better from the Kiwis.. Most have been very decent and fair ... but you find the odd muck raker - a la Robert Craddock like rubbish mongrels even here..:)
Disappointing .
