The way Young was going, it seems like he would have been locked in for another century if we were chasing a higher target. For whatever reason, he finds it much easier to go big in ODIs than tests.

Been meaning to ask, am I the only person with an irrational hate for Scotty Stevenson? I just can't take him & mute the TV every time he's on (when I'm not listening to alternative commentary). I'm sure he's probably a nice guy so maybe I'm just being unreasonable.

nz comms are pretty bad in general anyways

missing ian smith and craig cumming, even baz for a season with spark was surprisingly good

rest are quite dire....bond and elliott are ok at times

If they weren't allowed to say straight up or swung away we'd just have entire overs of silence sometimes.

As soon as I saw the pitch today I thought "FFS give them a chance at least." Hopefully the next two games are played on more traditional ODI surfaces.

🤣 On the theme of Zinny thinking he's the only one with the (I'd argue rational) dislike of Sumo, am I the only one who actually doesn't mind 'straight up'? I feel like it builds anticipation for me

Yeah, such ideal prep for the Champions Trophy. That said thought NZ’s B team acquitted themselves okay in SL.

I love it for the meme now, but it is pretty ****ing stupid when they say it and it goes for six.

You've got to listen out for "who's under it?"

I don't mind the comms. Admittedly, with the way I watch TV I don't listen all that much unless I hear something funny. For me, it depends on the context: for Tests, they should be more serious, but for Super Smash, by all means turn up the memery & maximise the laughs. For SS, my favorite lineup is Stevenson, Martin & Elliott.

Young is such a classy batsman with an unflappable temperament. When he plays like he did yesterday looks like a bloke who should average 45 in both tests and ODI’s.

This is SteveNZ, the T20 fan who enjoys the music loudly piped in between the utterance of ‘straight’ and ‘up’. The pause being just long enough to fit in an advert for DLF’s new hot air balloon company with the ‘up’ segueing nicely into the ‘up and away’ suffix of the advert, yes? ;)
