Nothing - but for one, having a specialist opener is better so the middle order is stronger, and two because it's a 7 match series where we can try both, Dimuth deserves a few games at least, I thought he did a decent job todayWhat's wrong with trying the Mahela experiment for more than 2 matches?
I do find it slightly bizarre that this 'worst year ever' from Mills that you speak of is still somewhat superior to what Boult achieved in the last 12 months.Experience. Don't make me bring Scaly in here to talk about the bull**** that is experience.
I'm almost certain that they aren't gonna try Mahela opening again. And I disagree that Dimuth did that good a job. There was not much movement and his SR was <60. It wasn't horrendous, but he shouldn't get brownie points for that knock.Nothing - but for one, having a specialist opener is better so the middle order is stronger, and two because it's a 7 match series where we can try both, Dimuth deserves a few games at least, I thought he did a decent job today
You keep saying this but it's not true. There are attribute reasons as well as stats reasons for why Boult isn't great at ODIs.But he's 100 times more likely to win you a World Cup than Kyle fricken Mills.
That's Ross Taylor. 40 off 75 is how I would sum him up as a one day player. Now that's harsh as his career record, especially for a NZ player is excellent but it's how he plays.Ross must have been having too many chats with Crowe. 1992's innings building skills are defunct. We need Ross back to 2015's game plan to win the world cup.
Well if Dimuth fails a few more times they won't have any other options in the squad, interesting should that happen.I'm almost certain that they aren't gonna try Mahela opening again. And I disagree that Dimuth did that good a job. There was not much movement and his SR was <60. It wasn't horrendous, but he shouldn't get brownie points for that knock.
You can keep repeating ad nauseam that Boult has better credentials than Mills, but you actually need a decent argument other than "Mills is 35 & slow in the field" and "Boult is a good test bowler".I don't know why people keep bringing up Boult's ODI stats, I know theyr're average. But he's 100 times more likely to win you a World Cup than Kyle fricken Mills. Henry too. Matt Henry would make every team in the World for this World Cup but somehow can't beat out Kyle Mills. Jesus.
Kyle Mills will never win NZ a World Cup. Book it.You keep saying this but it's not true. There are attribute reasons as well as stats reasons for why Boult isn't great at ODIs.
Even if that happens, it still doesn't mean Boult is better at ODIs.Kyle Mills will never win NZ a World Cup. Book it.
Would back him to do his job better thoughKyle Mills will never win NZ a World Cup. Book it.
Mills isn't the bowler he once was, that's my argument. ODI's have also changed over the last 2-3 years and bowlers need to be capable of taking 3-4 wickets an innings something Mills has proven he can't do (just check his record) .You can keep repeating ad nauseam that Boult has better credentials than Mills, but you actually need a decent argument other than "Mills is 35 & slow in the field" and "Boult is a good test bowler".
Depends how you look at it....I couldn't see Mills getting 7-25 in a final if that's what you mean, but I could very well see him bowling a really useful spell with the ball if our batsmen played well and got 280-300 in a final.Kyle Mills will never win NZ a World Cup. Book it.
Gavin Larsen and Ewen Chatfield come to mind.Nah plenty of bowlers have played well beyond 35 despite ebbing and flowing a bit.
