Haha Michael Vaughan tweeted saying Rohit Sharma now has 2 ODI double tons, and he couldn't score a ODI ton in his life. Lol.

Have not enjoyed watching Karn Sharma bowl. Doesn't flight it and rushes it through.

Is creating rotations on the ball and has the strength to do well with tweaks.

Axar Patel meanwhile has been really flighting it and has been awkward to play with his bounce.

Eden is a small ground but not the smallest. Hitting a six used to be a big thing here Riggins.

**** me, just got back and turned on, what a score from Sharma, quality player...I cant believe we dropped him on 4 and then twice after too i believe- not his fault and he did absolutely the right thing in punishing us for schoolboy cricket..we are stuffed(although i suppose we were from the first ball of our innings tbf) we are guaranteed to lose more wickets as its the batting powerplay- we always lose our heads in this and get out..nice to see Thirri getting back in some runs and hopefully he will bat out the 50 overs and get himself into a decent amount of form for the next series and the WC..well done again to Sharma..

edit- told you so(powerplay not thirri)..start the tuk tuk as bumble would say...

I really feel for SL, tbh. It's obvious they're extremely underdone for this series and have gone in with virtually zero preparation ,what with it being hastily arranged to get some cash for the SLCB. Hardly ideal in the lead up to the World Cup and it can't do their morale any good.
Yeah, they would do well to not take this seriously as a reflection on their abilities.

SMH and some comms said SL would provide a "tougher test".

I know they haven't had Malinga and Hareth...but we didn't have Gayle, Simmons and Narine and we put up a better fight than this. SL better hope this doesn't effect their confidence going into the world cup.
There is a vast difference in the pre-series preparation for a ODI+Test series you know is coming from a long time, and the pre-series preparation for an ODI series pulled out of your Board's ass.

Seriously - Rohit and Rahane to open in the WC, Dhawan can GAGF.

Rahane
Rohit
Kohli
Pujara/Rayudu
Raina
MSD
Jadeja/Binny (based on condition)
Ashwin
Pace Attack.
Nah, I would go for Dhawan and Rohit as openers and Rahane at number 4. Would prefer not to have Raina, but that's not happening, so.

I think Rayudu has a much better sense of how to build a one day innings than Rohit or Rahane at the moment but he doesn't really have the technique or eye, particularly given the World Cup is in Oceania. Rahane probably has the best suited technique to Aus/NZ but he's a long, long way from having OD batting figured out, and his compulsive hooking could get him into trouble too.

Don't really see what all the fuss is about with Sharma - Suresh Raina scored his runs much more quickly

Watching highlights and the ball that got Rayudu got help from the pitch. Holding on commentary also saying that there is something in the pitch if bowlers pitch up. So is cw just being itself and claiming it to be among the worst tracks based on outcome?

Yeah, there was something in the pitch, especially early on. kohli and Rohit did well to just be patient and build the innings. Was pretty slow going. Not many have criticized the pitch tbh, moreso the fact that SL were woeful with the ball and even worse in the field. They just don't look like they want to be out there to me.

Flat track is a lazy argument. So is smaller grounds. Eden is not as tiny as some of the other Indian grounds and it doesn't have the flattest track either. The main reasons have to be -

1. Indians being amazing at home in ODIs as batsmen,
2. The poor bowling of Sri Lanka.

While it is a terrific thing to notch 260 or so in an ODI, to put things in perspective, Dhawan notched a 248 in Pretoria recently v a SA A side for India A. It is remarkable to make 260 or so but I think if you keep putting crap attacks v India in India, more batsmen will score 200 runs at least.
