it looks like there will probably be coverage of Derbyshire vs SL on Radio Derby, but i don't think there will be any of British Universities vs SL or Eng A vs SL

Don’t know if I have already predicated a result in this thread if not, England will finally win a one day series and the test series will be 2-0.

Well, Chris Read has biifed another ton today, not bad for a guy that can't bat. I guess they'll stay with Jones for now, but Geraint will need big runs for England against Sri Lanka, I think.

Simon Jones could well be fit now, a massive boost for England:)

Good to see alot of Young English players in the runs.

Clarke / Muchall / Shafayat / Read / Cook

Just need some young Bowlers to step up!

Does anyone know what Sanath Jayasuriya is doing ATM ?

Did he get called back to Somerset this year as overseas player or is he still back at home ?

I doubt that very much, as Sanga has done a very good job doing wicket keeping and coming in at 3, and there's no reason to think having Prasanna J as WK will make a significant difference.

Sanga is maligned WRT his keeping , but IMO he misses very few and is in fact up there with the best keepers in World cricket today. Why change when its going to infact weaken the batting.

Also playing him purely as a batsman will affect his confidance as a player and may cause a decline in his batting.
actually his average as a pure batsman is higher that when he is keeping wickets.

There's already a decent pool of them.

One thing we know from India is that spin aside, we have some decent back-ups.

Anyone want to take a punt on an England 'A' side to face SL?

Quick guess

Cook
Newman
Shah
Joyce
Yardy
Clarke
Louden
Read
Bresnan
Broad
Sidebottom

actually don't think Newman will be anywhere near but meh

Replace Sidebottom with Mahmood and I think you're probably there.

Would there be a case for Plunkett and/or Anderson playing over Mahmood?
ECB has already told Lancashire that Anderson is available for CC match starting 3 May, but not for the C&G 7 May(rest for first test given Harmison is out) . Bang -Eng A is 4 May-7 May

just to add, all thats said about Plunkett is that he is available to Durham from 1 May.

I actually think the Eng A side may well be selected from counties not involved in CC matches those dates.
