I don't know about the circles, but Tremlett's pitch map is clearly more bunched than Broad's, but the spread as it passes the batsman is much bigger. That would indicate he is getting more seam movement than Broad in general.
His line is less consistent. He was pushing balls down leg every now and then with the new ball hence the spread. Length was very consistent though -albeit a bit short for my tastes. Broad seemed to be mixing his lengths up, deliberately or no.

Edit: wtf kp

Bun will feel justice after that :p. Good innings from Thirimanne, but this is good test cricket - good bowling, good batting.

He definitely is getting more movement (Broad typically bowls gun barrel straight), but the reason for it being spread when arriving at the batsmen is because of the line, if you trace the line from where he releases the ball and where it pitches it would naturally be much more spread out.

Guys, I drew those circles off MS Paint, so one happened to be smaller than the other. But the point I was making is pretty obvious. Tremlett is bowling more in the areas which get the batsmen swaying or squared up. Broad's deliveries are either outside off or easily duckable, the ones directed at the body at a tuckable height as well..
The maps say the opposite tbh and the circles, one was 3 times bigger the the other one.

Nice bowling from Tremlett. Thirimanne has been beaten by two very good deliveries in this Test. Hope he sticks around, seems to know what he's doing.

Absolute minimum of two more needed tonight, I'd say.

...KP...?

That Thirimanne dismissal is a classic fast bowler's superb execution of a plan. Bowl consistently at the batsman's body and then put one just at the length and line where he gets induced to play at it. Cue the edge to the slip.

Well played Thirimanne, but even the best batsmen would've struggled against this bowling in these conditions.

For doubters. see Thirimanne dismissal..

tremlett wag
Haha I can see he already has.

Broad will feel disapp tbh, cause he's bowled just as well, if not better, than Trem with no reward. Just need to keep this consistency and we'll be rewarded further.

He is seaming the ball a mile.. see the recent leave by Mahela. Really has the batsmen in all sorts of trouble here. Quality bowling.

Yeah but not that much - the spread is because his line wasn't as consistent early on. Pretty simple

Please consider the area around the batsman's body from head to just above the stomach about a feet across as well... you can see the deliveries there.

Tremlett continues to pepper the batsman's body and knuckles. Subcontinental batsmen (and most other batsmen as well) hate that area, and at this pace. And he's getting this from a decent length as well. Just excellent exhibition of quality fast bowling.

90+, easily
90mph every ball.
high 80s... 88 mph last one...
Consistently high 80s. With a lot of zip and pitching in good areas, for a change. He's hustling them a bit.
Cricinfo have him with an average of 86.4mph and top speed of 87.8mph. I wonder why SkySports speed guns read higher than Cricinfo. And I do wonder which technology more closely resembles the stuff used between 1998-2005 which had the peaked Brett Lee and Akhtar at around 90-95mph. I'd reckon the SkySports guns, for whatever reason, are higher than the technology that existed previously and Cricinfo is more accurate, but I guess it is all just opinion.

Could be so.. I missed the first couple of overs where he might have bowled a few looseners.

Sanga doesn't mind... have you seen his record in Aus?

Anyway i don't know how his new ball spell helped in setting up this dismissal at all, and almost every ball that over was in the same channel Broad was hitting (just fuller)
