Broad always looks just horrible early on in his innings. Has some nice shots but takes so long to get in. Just see out the day ffs.

I like the idea of runs flowing, until the end of the day.

But I don't give a rat's arse who wins this :) .

Well, this is brutal.

Prior to ton up........., today!

Not going to happen, but still. Quite a remarkable strike rate so late in the day.

This is great stuff from England. To come back from 22/3 and end up close to 350/6 is the mark of a champion side.

It is. England look so unstoppable. India are going to have to work so hard to bowl this line up out.

Keep playing until you get the 90 overs in and fine the captain 1% of his match fee for every minute the teams are out there past 6pm.

This.

Becomes a bit more complicated when the day sees both teams batting but it shouldn't be rocket science to work it out.

Anyhow looking forward to the highlights.

Well I'd have taken 342/6 after the first day against just about any other team, but the difference in quality between Sri Lanka's batting and bowling makes me think it's very much in the balance this game.

We've done fantastically well to come back from 20/3 though. As has been said, we're formidable when everything's going our way and at least tough to knock over when it isn't. Really happy about that. The fact that we're looking at around 400 tomorrow is brilliant. Prior the batsman of the day, really took it to them for bowling so wide.

There doesn't seem to be much in the wicket but the Sri Lankans got some swing from both new balls, so I'm worried I may be prepared to hand over a finger or two to have Jimmy back by this time tomorrow. Our attack looks good but one-dimensional. But that's far from certain, and Swann gave them plenty of issues so that's comforting.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Enjoyed the days play, really good stuff from England , after been 3 down for 22, to get up to 342/6. Even when England get themselves into a bit of trouble these days, the have the team to get them out of it.
Even though, both Bell and Morgan played well, they will be kicking themselves for not making a ton, even more so for Cook.
A bit better with the ball from SL but I'm still not sure, how they're going to take 20 wickets, unless England really gift it to them, which might happen in a innings but not 2.

I think oveall just about England's day. I was suprised by the improvement in Sri Lanka's bowling, not having seen much of Fernando or Wedegedara before, and I thought they bowled very well in the first session but fell away during both after-lunch sessions. Not particularly impressed with Fernando, who is fast but either too short or too full - poor control IMO.

To get to 342-6 after being 22-3 is an excellent achievement. Pushing on tomorrow I expect England can get close to or just past 400 which will be a good 1st innings performance.

I can't wait to see Finn, Tremlett and Broad bowl on that track, which will be a bit faster but flatter tomorrow, and also Swan who should be able to make use of Wedegedara's foot marks against SL's right handers and the usual foot marks against their left handers. As Herath showed, the pitch will turn a little, and Swann should be able to turn the ball more than Herath does.

Should be a very interesing 2nd day.

Come on England!:)

You think so? I didn't see much turn myself, I'd have been pretty surprised to have done on day one. Herath was giving it some nice flight but very little turn from what I could see.

Prior now averages over 44 in Tests, at a strike rate of 65. He has the highest average for any England keeper in Test history (qualification: 5 innings).

Just saying.

Cue Scaly to big up Phil Mustard.
