I said yesterday I'd be happy with a Hales 100 and for us to get 250, and this is why, we just can't not lose wickets in clusters, unfortunately Hales didn't get the ton, but we should still get past 250, but I doubt we'll get much past it, need Bairstow to hog the strike.

Such a lame way of getting there, reminds me of that Cook one against Pakistan when the bowler threw it about 20 foot over everyone.

Think Rashid would perform better with the bat so if Ali struggles with the ball he'll be under huge pressure by the end of this series.

Broad was worse. Coming out like he's fighting for world heavyweight title and batting the same way. It's like he's suddenly rediscovered he can bat again after being useless for a good while after being hit on the head so he's suddenly god's gift to batting.
Still haven't figured out what Stokes' shot was, the bat completely skewed in his hand. More awful execution, although he more than anyone needs to play himself in. He hasn't had much batting practice lately. Should really have played in more county games.

Nah, Rashid is nowhere near good enough either. Ali is still our best option for spin, so he stays in the team. Anyway hopefully Finn+Anderson can stick around with Bairstow long enough to get close to around 300.

Tbf Ali has been playing like what you'd expect from a number 8, his best contributions since he got thrown even further down the order have been those cameo little booster knocks like in the Ashes.
