***Official*** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2014

The good news (at least for me) was that Jordan and Plunkett had their kit on whilst Broad didn't earlier (when Prior came in) suggesting Broad is at 10. Plunkett should be 8 and Jordan 9 imo but could be swayed to swap them around. Was a little worried when both sky and cricinfo listed Broad, Jordan, Plunkett as the order. Although I was surprised to find out that Broad actually came out of the ashes with a somewhat respectable average of 19.37. Must have slogged a few when I was asleep in lost causes.

Don't think Plunkett will work out long term but his improved batting has certainly helped him gain selection. Think his pace has probably been hyped up a little too much and whilst being 85-90mph at county level is quick at test level he probably find that they're a bit more capable of mastering it. Still it's a good story and presumably gives hope to many in the county game.

Slogged quite a few runs in the last Test IIRC.

Great scorecard to wake up to:)

Opened cricinfo and peaked through my fingers fearing the worst (as has been customary of late) delighted to see Root with a ton but over the ****ing moon to see Mattty Prior 76no................even did a little happy dance!!

I laughed at YorksLanks when he said 370/4 at stumps early in the day............he wasn't too far from the mark.

Good day for England

SL simply lacked a quality quick to finish them after they got to 4 down

Topsy turvey old day but well done to Root and Prior on getting England in a good position.

Seriously pissed of this isn't on TV here.

Looks like Sri Lanka just fell away after I went to bed. Congrats to Root.

Hendrix were you up all night watching this?
I had to give a presentation this morning at work.

Was in the lab the whole night getting some last minute results through.

Wonder who the Burgster is actually going for here.........not known for his love for either side. I guess a good old fashioned spanking for the Lankans will give him future material for a rant. But as a true blue Aussie he'd have to enjoy another lol'ing at the expense of the Poms........must be tough to be Burgey here.

Burgey had no problem a few years ago getting behind England when India had their disaster tour here so I imagine it may be a similar one this summer for both sides touring. Lesser of the evils in his case I guess.

Not sure Burgey dislikes Sri Lanka so much as is tired with their being crap. I would think he like many neutrals would love to see Pradeep and Eranga make their name as Test bowlers by smashing England away.

Sri Lanka's pace attack is so boring when Collingsekara isn't trolling and bowling dibbly dobbly pearlers that rile up pace whores. I've been spoilt watching the New Zealand and West Indian quicks in the test just gone. Get Herath on.
