True. Not sure we'll get all the overs in though. There's more than enough light, just whether the umpires keep them on or not.

Yay. Bumble's talking about Collysekara's pace again!

You'd imagine he'd be able to pick up 15 runs in 10 overs, assuming we get them all in. He should get a few boundaries off the new rock too, assuming he doesn't nick off ofc.

This innings is a good object lesson in the value of scoring quickly, btw. Just as a point of contrast to both Ashes.
Not just scoring quickly but also giving new bats the freedom to score quickly. Rather than lose two quick wickets and totally freeze, Ali/Bell and even Root came out and pushed the rate on.

Well done Matt Prior. Lucky early on (I think he should have given him) but he looked fluent, ran well and building a good total for us.

Yep indeed. Just makes the bowlers feel that they never have total control of the situation, really forces them to push for quick wickets which often helps the batsmen out.

Making most of his luck the! Well played Matt Prior. First 50 in........over a year?

Edit: he made 69 during last winter's ashes...

Day has gone remarkably well for England. Even if we collapse here we have a score on the board and we haven't had many of them in the last 12 months.

"He's been a very good Root today"

"Definitely high class Root today"

I wonder how long Warne had been thinking up that one.

England take two virtually every time it goes to Herath. He bowled well but has cost them in the field plenty.
