So dumb that we spend so much time checking if he's overstepped a poorly-defined, crooked line by 1mm though.

Gonna win this with no balls
Five for Prasad, but perhaps just a little fortunate to get the last one. IMO it should be taken when the foot is flat on the ground anyway, when the heel first makes contact with the ground the angle of the front leg works in the bowler's favour.

What's wrong with that, though? You'd see dozens of spinners getting no-balled otherwise.

i see matt prior is still yet to learn how to play the short ball
Yup. Same old England - absolutely nothing learned from the winter. And yet another of the experienced brigade contributing sweet FA.

At the risk of offending the SL contributors, this may well be our worst home performance ever. Not just the losing of course, but the level of performance in all three disciplines has been horrendous.

Spinners never seem to flirt with the line like the quicks do though. Herath has been releasing with his whole foot behind it.

I've seen plenty of spinners release with their foot over the line as opposed to on it.

It's such a non-issue anyway, what possible advantage could the bowler get by having his foot in the air?

Glad to see you didn't include captaincy as one of the poor disciplines. I think it's unfair to see if Cook's turning it around effectively as a cap'n with so little to work with.
Go SL!!

Getting bounced out by Sri Lanka.

This is lower than New Zealand in 1999 and Zimbabwe in 1997.
It's an interesting question.

I've generally held the view that our worst home performances were against Aus in 1989 and India in 1986. Obviously this has to be in contention too.
NZ in 1999 wasn't pretty either, but at least we did won one test and were contention in the decider until Chris Cairns went ballistic. And I don't think the bowling and catching were as diabolical as we've seen here.

Anyway, I've got to go. So congrats to the SL guys here, and apologies if I haven't quite done your team justice.

like i said before this is the first ive seen of this series so im probably not best positioned to comment but i'm not really surprised SL has been able to post the runs they have, there's some very good batsmen in this team. England really should've been able to score more though runs than they have though because this SL bowling attack hardly looks the most menacing i've seen but i havent seen any of the series so they mustve stepped up and kudos to them for doing so
