Technique more the spirit really.Jayawardene is an awesome captain. He knows it doesn't matter how late he leaves it because Bangladesh haven't the spirit to bat out time for a draw. See Ashraful's dismissal for details.
Both tbh. Playing a slogging hard-handed square cut when your team has three sessions to bat out is poor spirit. Playing it badly is poor technique.Technique more the spirit really.
Was just thinking that, shame the last wicket was a run-out from his point of view. What a hiding in the final wash. This would have to be one of the best ever performances in a Test statistically, surely. Especially if he takes the final wicket and ends up with 5.
I guess Mahela's plan was to give his team as much batting practice as possible while making sure that there was enough time to grind Bangladesh out if they put in a decent batting performance. Looks to me as though he found a reasonable balance, then Mendis and Dilshan put in decent performances with the ball to end the match early.in hindsight Mahela should have set them 700 plus. Meaningless in the end only 1 player in SL team likely to remember the tour in Dilshan
