And when is selectors going to realize that Warnapura is class ODI opening option? Tharanga and Udawatta doesn't look like ODI material any more.
When he scores runs in OD domestic cricket maybe? He is very Slater-like when it comes to OD cricket. Plays too many shots.

I'll still prefer a class player averaging 30 than a slogger averaging 30. Because when the former gets in, he'll play long innigs.

TBH though that is one of his major issues in OD cricket he rarely plays long innings. He continually gets out in the 30-40s. That is the main thing that holds him back as guys like Tharanga and Muburak have shown more signs to play longer innings, even if they look a lot worse at the crease.

He really needs to score more runs at domestic level before he comes into side. As he is basically coming in on potential, rather then performances.

Tharanga averages 31.3 in ListA matches, where Warnapura averages 27.0. When you add that bowling and fielding potential of Warnapura, he's be the perfect player to replace Jayasuriya. Although they differ in style, Warnapura can be a good opener and very ood 6th bowling option. And it's baffling to see Jayawardane going to Dilshan insted of Samaraweera or Warnapura who are very good FC bowlers.

Gutted for Bangladesh.

That drop catch by Keyes when Kapu was in the 30s was so crucial, Bangladesh really need to be taking those sort of chances.

Warnapura and Samaraweera both have had injuries and rarely bowl anymore for the domestic sides. They not really bowling option as they can't bowl anywhere near what they did at the start of their careers. They are on par with Jayawardene himself as bowling options. Bowling shouldn't come into it as he can't bowl.

Tharanga is increase, whereas Warnapura average is dropping and at best leveling. He hasn't showed signs of being a 30 plus bat for two seasons. The other major issue is in 100 odd OD matches it only has 8 innings above 50. For someone that has played most of his career as a top order batsmen that is piss poor.

Pathetic Fielding

Mushifiq missed a Catch and 2 Easy Stumpings, Kayes and Siddique decided to drop sitters.

Could have had them All out for around 280

then again the substandard fielding is part and parcel of their overall mediocre performance in international cricket...

Such a great start of the day.
Kapu and Vaas both out very quickly.

Shakib and Mortaza the wicket takers. :)

Athlai

Not Terrible
With the occassional ball looking to knock over the stumps. Gloves is deffo how I'd go for Murali always seems to be gloving deliveries.

South Africa should learn from Bangladesh on how to mop up the tail, lol.

Sri Lanka all out 384, losing 4 wickets for 13 runs this morning, all LBW.

In fairness - the Aussie tail is better than Sri Lankas.

Sri Lanka should thank Shahadat for all those runs

Great Job Shakib (4 Wickets not quite 5) & Masri

Dilshan was the difference here. That 162 is going to make this very difficult indeed. Bangladesh really need to score 320+ to be in this match and even then without a lead it will still very difficult with the two best spinners in the world in the team.

Tamim or Ashraful need to stand up and stick around.
