I hadn't even thought about that. SL lose alot though without Vaas, Murali, and captain Atapattu.

Yay we made it!!!!!

Once again Ashrful shows what a useful player he can be when he gets goin and nice to see Aftab joining in the party at the end... Go Bangladesh!
Well Done Bangladesh !! :)

Remember I said it first on this thread that Bangla win was on !!

Well deserved victory for a side that has great potential and with the talented youngsters coming through and the Massive support the Team has , I am certain Bangladesh will be strong force in International Cricket very very soon.

Whatmore is a very very clever coach , in fact IMO one of the best in the business, and he deserves every bit of this just as Bangla Team !!

I can`t see any other result than a Sri Lankan win next match though. There`s sure to be many Sri Lankans wanting to make a point.

Of course, I`d love a Bangladeshi win. :D

As for Sri Lanka, news is not good I am afraid to say.

Recent ODI record

1-6 loss to India
1-3 loss to NZ
2-5 loss to Australia (taking the whole VB series into account)
now 1-1 against Bangladesh .

** It would be keeping with their current form if they go onto lose 1-2 to Bangladesh ! **

BTW they only need to get thrashed by Pak, England, Windies and SA (who spared SL in Australia because of their depleted side) to complete the set (of losses) against the entire Test Playing countries.

I think they are scheduled to tour England in the English Summer and expected to play Pakistan at home in April. 8-)

** I suspect SL under Moody will endeavour to complete the set by getting thrashed by England and Pakistan . Now if only Windies and SA can oblige ......  **

South Africa hardly "spared" Sri Lanka. Believe it or not, Sri Lanka actually played good cricket.

That's a great point that I wanted to bring up a while ago. I looked at their record in all these countries, yet there was talk that they're doing great since they made the VB final. They got in winning 3 matches out of 8... nothing to ride home about. Two of those wins were against an absolute crippled South African side. Kallis, Ntini and the Nutter are all such key players. The Nutter inparticular saved so many runs at the death last year when South Africa were on that streak. My best memories of SA last year were of a team that either made or dried up runs when they mattered last year. Yes they had a run of fairly easy teams... but even teams like Australia drop games to bad teams here and there.

I don't think too much of Sri Lanka as a one day team, they really didn't win that much in Australia. 3 out of 11 games. I will say that I thought if they showed a little more attrition, they could have had a 2-2 series tie in NZ though.

Uhhhh.....small steps there. Let's not declare them The Invincibles just yet.

Next step would be to consistantly draw test matches, at least against weaker opposition like WI.

If they play WI in a three match series and WI wins it 1-0, and Bangladesh manage to draw the other two (after five full days of play), I would consider that a huge improvement.
Silentstriker, you only happened to quote the 2nd half of the sentence ignoring the first half where i said -

I do hope that they go ahead and beat Australia in a test match when they are touring Bangladesh.
There is a difference between hoping that Bangladesh beats Australia in a test match ans saying that "Bangladesh will beat Australia in a test match." I said the first one and there is absolutely no harm in dreaming. But the real reason for expecting that is to shut up all anti-Bangladesh big mouths around the world and after that happening, no one will ever dare to raise doubts over Bangladesh test status.

Yes, but this has absolutely no hope of happening. None.

Bangladesh doesn't even have much of a chance of DRAWING with australia, unless weather intervenes.

If Bangladesh were to play the 1948 Australian cricket team, with most of the aussies playing from their graves, the test would most likely end in a draw.

I thought that would be the case after they beat Australia in the ODI last year. But it wasn't. I guess people don't want one off perfformances, as cricket is a funny game...

Bangladesh might be contemplating a series victory with Jayasuriya and Tharanga in the pavilion already...

Sri Lanka 17/2 (8.2 ov)

No Murali or Vaas, but I would still love to see Bangladesh pull it out. They should then send a postcard to Ricky Ponting.

Sri Lanka 4/197 in the 40th over, Lokuarachchi just out to Rafique but the damage was pretty much done with his 69 from 57. Baisya's copped a bit of stick, so I imagine it'll just be Mortaza, Rasel and Rafique to bowl out the last 10.
