You obviously are watching some other game, Starc has been brilliant today, they way he has varied his length, the zip and bounce he has been getting, have all been pretty top notch.
He has looked like a top class operator, and he definitely looks good for the future.
Been superb for a guy that's just 21 with just 10 fc games under his belt

Aside from the fact that he's 196 cm tall, strongly built and bowls with good nip, I've been really impressed with the fact that he moved it both ways and bowled a very good line and length

Looks a seriously good prospect to me

Actually, you'll find that I was against having Starc in the team to start off with. Good work on the detective work though.

It has nothing to do with the wickets he got. It's got to do how he bowled overall. Noone is saying that there was the best batting display ever seen going on out there, but that has nothing to do with how Starc bowled.
Yeh well once again (wickets aside), I think he bowled well, not oustandingly. My pick of the bowlers would probably actually be Watson, who was more consistent.

That being said, I think Starc looks like he has a lot of potential. But at the moment I don't think he is 'outstanding' as you put it.

Ineffective? Bowl some short wide rubbish sure but bowled some absolute jaffas as well which left everyone at a loss as to how they didn't take a wicket.

I thought he looked better today. Starting to warm up at last.

Plus I'm confused by the statement that a #8 won't score better than Johnson/Hauritz regardless of ability. Seems a bit counterintuitive... a better batsman would surely score more runs.
In bowler friendly conditions, if this the best that Johnson can manage, then you fear for him.
Anyways, as for your other argument, Australia have tried guys like White, McDonald and Smith @ 8, and none of them really set the world on fire.

Two inside edges, Mathews too. Yes he was walking down the deck but that was because Starc was giving him nothing else to hit and had settled on a length. Was trying to force the pace, paid for it, full credit to Starc.
Oh ok, I thought Matthews might have been clean bowled. Na I don't agree with that. I think Matthews went for it just because of the general situation in the game - as you said he wanted to force the pace. Don't think it had much to do with Starc.

You must be drunk, because I don't recall calling Starc outstanding. I described his performance as outstanding though.

Ladies and gentlemen, the quality of Cricinfo comments:

"I rate Fergosun higher then Khawaja," says Muzza. "Fergs should replace Punter when he retires not Khawaja. Fergo scored 169 or around that in a shield game and you still reckon Khawaja a better test prospect then Fergo? Whats Khawaja done this summer so far? Sorry, but i disagree Byron."

First of all, Muzza, it's Brydon, not Byron. And secondly, did you not catch up with this handy double-century Khawaja made in NSW's first Shield game of the summer?
At least the Cricinfo bloke shut him down.

You're pretty obnoxious aren't you? Thats what I meant. I don't think his performance was outstanding.

Except for developing a slower ball, Fernando has not improved as a bowler since his debut many years ago plus his batting has gone to the dogs (used to be a good hitter in the early days)

True....
Its amazing, that many people think he just got lucky! Even in India he was very good. I think some Aussie fans, have just got too used to mediocrity, and therefore, they don't recognise a true talent, when they see one.

You have trouble posting what you actually mean don't you? For all I know you could actually think I'm a very amicable guy...
