***Official*** Spot-Fixing Scandal

nah bowling a deliberate no ball for tactical purpose is nothing new infact if you see both Aamer's no ball they were quite short with one actually targeting Trott's head but Aamer reaction the next day could tell that he was quite guilty.
Well tactical purposes as in not letting the opposition batsman get a hundred...

Yeah i understand, but at that stage of the game he looked like taking a wicket with every delivery, then it makes little sense to bowl one at that occasion...

At least he apologised, however obviously insincerely, before things got ugly. It seems fairly apparant that, after this meeting with his lawyers, they realised they had no ****ing chance.

Now that his ass was on the line he apologized. I was so hoping he wouldn't apologize and the Scotland Yard arrests him for defamation. Good Riddance i was hoping for but i guess we are stuck with crack head ...

As a connoisseur of schadenfruede this is rather delicious. Must genuinely have pained the old turd to recant so publically.

I'm a little suprised he took this far and then didn't go all the way tho. I'm no lawyer, but I doubt he ever had much of a legal leg to stand on given the nature of the UK's libel laws.

I think he is, to swipe an Elvis Costello line, a man out of time. His comments were clearly intended for domestic consumption only and twenty years ago would've probably been treated as such. He overlooked the nature of the information age.

&, speaking of Butts, Salman is appealing against his suspension. From Cricinfo. Sincerely hope he fails. No game he plays in would have any credibility until the case is heard.

Bit of a half-arsed apology but I suppose no-one believed him anyway.
Some of the things he said in his apology...

"I wish personally and on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board to withdraw the comments I made concerning the England and Wales Cricket Board and each of the England players who played in the one-day International at The Oval on Friday 17 September. It is regrettable that there was a misunderstanding arising from my comments.

"I would like to make it quite clear that in the statements which I made that I never intended to question the behaviour and integrity of the England players nor the ECB nor to suggest that any of them were involved in any corrupt practices or in a conspiracy against Pakistan cricket.

"In particular, I wish to make it clear that I have never seen any evidence of any wrongdoing by any England player or the ECB at any time," he added. "I deeply and sincerely regret that my statements have been interpreted to cast doubt upon the good names of the England players and the ECB and hope that this public withdrawal will draw a line under the matter."

"The ECB and its chairman have been and continue to be a friend of and hugely supportive of Pakistan cricket," Butt said. "I am very grateful for their efforts in that regard and for their hospitality this summer. We at the PCB, like all other cricket governing bodies, are committed to a zero tolerance policy to corruption in the game and will continue to work hard with the relevant authorities to eradicate it."

Next, he needs to issue an apology to Pakistan for having the most disastrous tenure in history as PCB Chairman. And then immediately afterwards he needs to resign. Of course I know all that is wishful thinking. He’s not going anywhere until either he dies or the President of Pakistan is forced out of office.

With the recent activity in the media and the SC i was hopeful that might happen sooner then later. But looks like the crooks have joined hands again...

atleast he apologized rather then defend himself in court all that would have done was waste honest tax payers money on his sorry butt.

if this monkey does not get fired after so much farce I don't know how we ever get rid of him.
I was seriously hoping that he does something more stupid in England and get arrested and the ICC just suspend him and ask PCB to appoint a new chairman.

What. An. ***. Hole. Even Rashid Latif (Former Pak Wicketkeeper) is saying that the system is corrupt and Osman is saying that we should get the veterans of cricket into the PCB, along with a CEO.
