Washington bowls fast-medium but chucks pace.Gangster said:What's Powell's average pace? Cricinfo has him at Fast Medium, but does he deserve to be rated as Fast? How about Washington's pace? Is he a legitimate fast or a fast-medium
why was he dropped ITFP? as i said before the game, he was extremely impressive in india, and was dropped after that.Mr Mxyzptlk said:Well now I'm sure you haven't watched the cricket or much West Indies cricket at all. Not only is Daren Powell the best West Indian pacer this season, but he's bowled superbly in this match to prove that his place in the team is long overdue.
a) that would be very foolishSwervy said:yeah..maybe for shorter periods of time...but SA's 222 in 138 overs surely must be slower than England were most of the time
Australia probably would be on 600 now...declared and try to actually beat the West Indies (ok maybe not)
You're right - hovered around 2 an over most of the time - at its slowest 210 for 9 off 108 overs.Swervy said:yeah..maybe for shorter periods of time...but SA's 222 in 138 overs surely must be slower than England were most of the time

To me this latest development has a similar trend to that of the Zimbabwean crisis, although obviously under very different circumstances. The pattern is analgous though- a conflict between some 'rebel' players and the board occurs, which leads to them being dropped and new, inexperienced players coming in whereby the former captain, who incidently was a forerunner in the 'conflict' loses his title. The resolution also is similar-the conflict superficially at least appears resolved and the former 'rebels' return at the expense of the debutants, and the former captain returns, playing under the authority of the new captain...Mister Wright said:
Not entirely sure. I do know he was shattered when he was dropped though. Credit to him for gathering himself and returning though.tooextracool said:why was he dropped ITFP? as i said before the game, he was extremely impressive in india, and was dropped after that.
Nice work mate! A tad more interesting than the last Kumar who posted.Kumar_42 said:To me this latest development has a similar trend to that of the Zimbabwean crisis, although obviously under very different circumstances. sorry if this sounds confusing but I just noticed a sort of 'deja-vu' with the crisis in that its resembling at a superficial level the Zimbabwean crisis. Just my 2 cents...
rudolph should be left out for dipenaar, need pollock back to take the place of one of the others, would persevere with langeveldt one more match, if he continues to be poor then maybe give steyn a run out.Mr Mxyzptlk said:I would, if possible, drop Rudolph, Hall and Langeveldt. All were extremely unimpressive.
I suspect their biggest problem is their lack of meaningful cricket immediately before the series. I still don't think they will be bowled out cheaply by WI very often. If WI want to win the series, I wonder if we'll see a livelier track next up whilst Pollock's still missing.Marius said:I would have Rudolph before Dippenaar thanks. And Langeveldt had one poor game, but he is still a class act (witness his Test debut), but methinks South Africa has problems.
Perhaps. It was worrying how utterly useless both looked on that pitch though.Marius said:I would have Rudolph before Dippenaar thanks. And Langeveldt had one poor game, but he is still a class act (witness his Test debut), but methinks South Africa has problems.
Yeah, Rudolph has to go, unless he's playing Bangladesh he really doesn't look like he is test class.Mr Mxyzptlk said:I would, if possible, drop Rudolph, Hall and Langeveldt. All were extremely unimpressive.
I'd keep him, only for lack of a reliable alternative.. Im no way going to have Amla back, Prince to me doesnt look test class, Dippenaar and McKenzie have had a lot of chances..Mister Wright said:Yeah, Rudolph has to go, unless he's playing Bangladesh he really doesn't look like he is test class.
If only he were in the squad...Langeveldt said:I would have Steyn for Hall (extra bowler) for Trinidad.. Im convinced you need something rapid to get anything out of these West Indian pitches, and Dale could do with a bit of a run, I hear he has been bowling very nicely for the Titans..
