Looks good - I would put Ryan Hinds in there at no. 6 to prevent WI from having a really long tail, as both King and Collins are no. 11's, not sure how good Powell is with the bat. That would give them four frontline seamers and a couple of part-time spinners - about the best WI can hope for at the moment, given that the selectors are loath to try any specialist spin bowlers.honestbharani said:What is the news on Lara and the other guys returning? I think it could prop the Windies big time if they can somehow hang on and win this test (and, hopefully, the series)
Hinds
Gayle
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Bravo
Browne
King
Collins
Powell
some other bowler
that side looks good, if Hinds and the bowlers can keep their form up.
maybe Hinds can come in at 6 and Bravo at 7 as the fourth seamer?Adamc said:Looks good - I would put Ryan Hinds in there at no. 6 to prevent WI from having a really long tail, as both King and Collins are no. 11's, not sure how good Powell is with the bat. Yep, sorry didn't make it clear, but that's what I meant, put Hinds at 6 and push everyone else down one spot.honestbharani said:maybe Hinds can come in at 6 and Bravo at 7 as the fourth seamer?

Yeah, sorry. One eye (& ear) on the telly!Mr Mxyzptlk said:
It won't take a win to make selection difficult. The team has already given a fine account of itself. For the first time I can remember (ie as long as I've been watching closely) against a quality team, the West Indies could put together 4 consecutive days in full control of a match.AdamC said:A win here will make selection for the next Test very interesting indeed; there may be no place for Bravo with the three seamers all doing very well here.
Probably - I didn't see the innings so I don't know why it is being rated so highly, but certainly if there is something worth persisting with then he should be considered. The problem is, if you leave out Bravo, WI only have three proper bowlers, and though they've done well this time round, they can't be expected to consistently bowl sides out. Like Liam I would like to see a specialist spinner in the side, but the selectors are disinclined to agree.Chubb said:Surely you should keep Pagon on after that lovely cameo?
Ahead of Gayle, Sarwan and Lara? You amuse me.Chubb said:Surely you should keep Pagon on after that lovely cameo?
I think I've sounded off sufficiently on him, so I'll just summarize - he chucks.FaaipDeOiad said:How good is Washington? Is he worth a go in the second test? He's got a pretty impressive FC record, and I gather he's quick.
Ahh, I see. Well given the current rules he could get one game in at least, since he can't be called for it any more.Mr Mxyzptlk said:I think I've sounded off sufficiently on him, so I'll just summarize - he chucks.
So you drop the man who scored 48 and can bowl for a man who scored 35 and can't?Chubb said:Instead of Deonarine?
Gayle
Hinds
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Pagon
Browne
Specialist Spinner
King
Collins
Powell
I agree. Very talented. He is 22 years old. Much time ahead of him. Ryan Hinds has earned his place more IMO. He deserves a fairly consistent run in the side.Chubb said:Alright.
I shouldn't be posting here- I don't know enough about the West Indies. I just thought that Pagon had shown something special...
So, you think five batsmen, Hinds, Browne, a spinner and three pacers? Are there any quality spinners in the West Indies at the moment who could come in?Mr Mxyzptlk said:I agree. Very talented. Without seeing anything and going off stats... Pagon came in at 24-2, R Hinds at 390-4. Also R Hind's Test record so far is ordinary(26 batting average 74 bowling average).Mr Mxyzptlk said:So you drop the man who scored 48 and can bowl for a man who scored 35 and can't?
Please enlighten me.
Hinds has not gotten a consistent run in the Test side in his career as of yet. He has good technique and is in form. I see no justification to give Pagon a run ahead of him. He averages over 37 in non-Test FC matches and has been one of the more consistent players in domestic cricket.Scaly piscine said:Without seeing anything and going off stats...
