DRS, a lot of our revered oldies would have their avg drop significantly on turners. The likes of Kumble would be lethal today.

Who else besides Faulkner and Tayfield?
Maybe Vogler - it's a little tricky to compare because Maharaj has played more, but Vogler picked up 64 wickets in 15 matches, which is certainly comparable to Maharaj's 78 in 21 (prior to this match).

Warne would benefit the most. A lot of his top spinners didn't get LBWs because the umpire thought the ball had turned more than what it actually did.

Modern batsmen just don't have techniques suited to playing the moving ball. Its a more flat track, aggressive brand of cricket at the moment, and batsmen have built games that suit that.

I think bowlers are also just better overall as a result. Like, they get better anyways as the sports progresses and becomes more professional and we have more knowledgeable and stuff, but I also think bowlers have been forced into a corner where they just don't have much margin for error on most surfaces, so when they do get a pitch that does something, they have the accuracy and hunger to cash in. Kind of like batsmen of the older era, who had better shot selection and desire to stay at the crease.

Go back to uncovered pitches I say. Batsmen have it too easy.

Maharaj being given the new ball in a South African attack! This must rank beyond even his widest dreams.

Modern bowlers are much cleverer than their ancient counterparts. Add to that, they are supported by unimaginably better fielding and DRS.
There is no need for uncovered pitches; just give them what was considered to be good cricket wickets, say, thirty years ago, and they would eat all the modern batsmen alive.

On a day one pitch that is playing true as well. This ranks beyond RSAs worst nightmares if you don't look at the scorecard.
