Poor team selection from SA, feels very defensive. Don't know if de Bruyn will add with the bat, but suspect not if we get into trouble. I can understand them wanting to play Ngidi, but we already had an enforcer, back of length type bowler with Rabada and Shamsi is was always going to be more effective.

Will see what happens if we can get the ball to start reversing, game may change quickly then.

Keep an eye out for sandpaper......
I wonder if everything Shamsi went through this week had anything to do with his omission. I know he was available but with all the travel back and forth, not to mention how he'd actually be feeling emotionally, I reckon that could've played into it.

That's a good point, which had also crossed my mind, but they do have Von Berg there if they wanted to go with a second spinner. So it seems like they've decided to drop a bowler and strengthen the batting because of the failures in the last test.

Hence why I say it just feels defensive rather than an attempt to be proactive and win the game.

In Tests you need 20 wickets; Shamsi/von Berg gives the best chance of uys winning this game. It is not the good old day of SA where our 2nd choice spinner (and sometimes our first choice) was dodgy at best, we have options now.

At least we don't have that problem anymore. Although with Maharaj having just picked up his third wicket, I'm a little worried about what the Sri Lankan spinners are going to be able do...

May turn out to be totally incorrect and made to look foolish who knows...

...now I would like to see Rabada/Steyn at 145+km/h with a reversing ball.

This pitch (and teams) looks like a Jayawardene/Murali special.

Is the speedo accurate? The RSA quicks look slow, but three fresh 150km bowlers sending it down at 130 is ridiculous.
