Ask RichardHow much would Amla average if he had been caught all the time he has been dropped?
Hard to recall another current day player who has been dropped as much as he has. I'd love to see the stats for this if possible - batsman most dropped since the early 2000s, highest drops per innings ratio, etc.
Amla ABDV Steyn; three future RSA ATGs in the same XI, whereas Sri Lanka have Mahela, Sanga and Mathews. And then high quality players like Herath, Morkel, Faf, Duminy, Philander...history is going to look back on this series as a pretty good one.
Didnt Daid Warner get dropped like 6 times in the last test series in South Africa? How much would Amla average if he had been caught all the time he has been dropped?

It's less interesting in Warner's case because he's not as good, thoughDidnt Daid Warner get dropped like 6 times in the last test series in South Africa?
Well he was referring to current day players who get dropped a lot, those drop catches basically cost us the series. It's less interesting in Warner's case because he's not as good, though
Hmm, not quite - his two innings in the deciding test were chanceless IIRC. It was in the first and second Tests that he got dropped over and over - in the first Test, his knock wasn't really the decisive one and we lost the second.Well he was referring to current day players who get dropped a lot, those drop catches basically cost us the series.
He was player of the series after having been dropped a few times... so he is relevant.Hmm, not quite - his two innings in the deciding test were chanceless IIRC.
