Ah ok, thanks for this. Good to see him getting a score and hopefully keeping his place a bit longer. It was during the Misbah - Younis UAE era when he was dominating the FC scene. There was only one slot in the available in the middle order and Asad was preferred by Misbah and the selectors for some odd reason.
Fawad was recalled briefly in the ODI team. Not his strongest format, and after an awful series against Australia, he was dropped again. There's always been media pressure here in Pakistan for his selection, and I suspect his latest recall to the side was just to get the media to back off. It's good he's making the most of it, but his best form is behind him sadly. Hasn't dominated the recent few FC seasons as he used to.
I'm not sure either. I guess he's not that well known internationally. He played club cricket there a few years ago though.Ah ok, thanks for this. Good to see him getting a score and hopefully keeping his place a bit longer.
I'm surprised to see he's never played county cricket. Surely someone saw the wisdom of signing a good red ball player who'd be available for an entire season.
You lot really hate selecting good playersFor anyone interested, there was bowling equivalent to Fawad as well. Sadaf Hussain. Left arm version of Abbas. His current record FC record is almost 500 Wickets @ 20, but for the majority of the last decade, that average was in the teen's. Never got selected despite us giving caps to the likes Rahat Ali, Imran Khan, Sohail Khan etc.
No one knows why. There was hardly any video footage of him during his prime, and many suspected he only thrived because the pitches were so poor back then. Still odd he was never tried at the international level. Closest he ever got was being picked in the ODI squad for the WI series after the 2011 WC (same series Junaid Khan made his debut), but never got a game and was never selected again.
I remember following him in his early days, he put up some stupendous numbers. Trundler maybe, but they picked Abbas and Mir Hamza, as well as Ehsan Adil who was a bit quicker and averaging a couple more at the time, and Anwar Ali on the basis of some inswingers he bowled in an u19s match. He should have got a go.For anyone interested, there was bowling equivalent to Fawad as well. Sadaf Hussain. Left arm version of Abbas. The music could not possibly be more out of step as a complement to footage of a man bowling medium pace.Sadaf was 6 foot 5 too wtf. Even if he bowled at just 120ks you'd think he'd be worth a go
Found a video of him bowling in 2011
