I presume they'll be hoping alot of the Students get along to the game considering it's only Orientation week down there.

One of the reason i think they scheduled it for tomorrow is the very high winds down here, There have been power cuts in numerous suburbs inc South Dunedin (where the brook is).

No ODIs have been played at Olympic Park. It is too small to play cricket on.
Exactly. If it were in NZ though, who knows how small would be too small?

Yarrows Stadium has hosted domestic one-dayers, and even I've hit one 10 rows back at Trafalgar Park in Nelson. Not that I watched a lot of Cricket Max, but at one venue (Ericsson?) they often had fielders stationed on the running track!

As dumb kids we didn't have Jackass back then, so we kept watching in the hope a fielder would dive for a catch. :)

I want to see a 25-over slog.
Argh!! That sort of talk will bring Martin Snedden's 20/20 Cup idea to life!

IMO, NZ Idol is already one trashy import too many. As you can tell, I'm proving a barrel of fun to catch up with at the staff room water-cooler. :!(

Yeah, SA Idol and 20/20 has hit South Africa... its a global thing, and we have America to blame....

South Africa end up with 259...that may sound like a good total, but at Dunedin it's not a great score considering how ridiculously small the square boundaries are.

Rudolph batted well, but his effort in the final 10 overs was nothing short of hopeless...constantly looking to play on the offside hence the reason why only 3 or 4 boundaries were scored in the last 10 overs.
New Zealand's bowling was also once again very good at the death & its great to see Cairns keeping the runs down too.

Still, at least the total is competitive but if NZ bat sensibly then I can't see it being a big enough total.

What an absolute monster of a shot to finish it off! Wow. Chris Cairns' last two sixes were enormous. One off the back foot, and smashed over long on! The one to finish the game was a gargantuan that was just blasted over long on and out of the ground. Man he can hit.

I believe that six was over the longest part of the ground & also hit into the wind!

Good win for NZ, can you believe NZ have won 3 consecutive ODI's over S.A?

NZ's play is becoming almost too good to be true. I honestly can't remember a time when every NZ batsman from 1-6 could say they're in good form.

It's almost like the top-order horrors we've endured is actually reaping dividends, with solid starts now capped off by the middle-order, who have matured after being put under pressure so many times.

Everyone is swooning around Fleming which is fair enough, but Styris is consistently clubbing this much-vaunted attack with disdain. Who would've thought 4 years ago he'd become one of our best players?

I have to say I've been disappointed in Nel though. How people were talking about him becoming a genuine great I have no idea yet. All I've seen so far is an ungainly action, tomcat-like control, little or no movement, manageable pace, etc.

Agreed...NZ's batting has been really consistent ever since the debacle of Queenstown.

How will Astle get back into the team? I reckon it would be at the expense of McMillan.

I think it's also a good idea for Fleming to try & bat with the likes of Papps & Marshall while the more experienced players like Styris, Cairns & McMillan hold up the middle order.

Most casual fans would say it's a no-brainer to replace Papps with Astle.

But, with so many good hitters already, I'm really liking the way we can get off to solid starts without loss. Astle is more of a 1, 121*, 6, 13... sort of scorer.

Until Fleming's form cools off, I'd be tempted to stay with Papps. Tim's right - we're getting to the stage where there could be some household names on the sidelines through no real fault of their own. Marshall may be subbed on slower wickets perhaps.

If we win the series on Saturday, I wonder if they'll bow to the hype and let Ross Taylor debut at Napier in the dead rubber. If NZC are as under-budget for this series as I think they are, Jeff Wilson could also make an appearance. :)

The Dom Post thinks it's a given Harris will play at Eden Park, so it could be interesting to see who they 'rest' as soon as Saturday.

It could well be Marshall that misses out at Eden Park...but then again, thats extremely harsh on a guy that's just got a good score in the previous match.

Otherwise I think either McMillan or Mills might face the chop for Harris.

I find it interesting that the top wicket-taker Shaun Pollock in the recent series against the West Indies (8 wickets) has yet to claim a wicket after 4 ODI's against NZ.

He'll get it together. Pollock is a class act.

Besides...

10-0-33-0
8-0-42-0
5.5-1-8-0
10-2-33-0

...isn't too bad. He's keeping it tight.

oh of course, Pollock has been brilliant anyway thus far.
He's been the sole bowler of the series really to be so consistent.

But NZ have gone about it the right way...they've respected him and tried to score as much off him as they can & cash in on the other bowlers who have been extremely poor.

Chris Carnes has being batting like his old self again. He was one of my very favorite strikers some time ago. has he redeemed him self after the prevous couple of tours????

Hats off to Marshall - that's something like 6 or 7 half centuries in his first 13 innings...
And a century in there as well!

Cairns six was the biggest I have seen.

Marshall is quite unusual story. Has done stuff all at domestic level, but in internationals he's doing well.

That shot was not as big as the commentators make it out to be.

It barely made it over the fence.
