*Official* South Africa in New Zealand 2022

International Coach
I guess to be more specific, it’s that somehow he simultaneously appears to be bowling very intelligently while looking really dumb

I love Southee but I'm certain he's a jerk.
Not a jerk at all, can be a bit of a clown and certainly has (and had to) matured as a person. Stuart Broad is a jerk, which goes along with the appeal. Tim should try and get it out of his game

I am mildly amused by the comments of a slow run rate, against a good attack on a tricky pitch, against a moving ball. While simultaneously reading (elsewhere on the site) about the lack of application by batsmen because everybody is playing to much T20 and technique has gone. I know its not mutually exclusive but still...

given what happened last test. surely run rate didn't even come into the Proteas mind, but then again, why would it?

Not Terrible
Yeah it shouldn't play into their mind at all. As long as they don't lose wickets first thing tomorrow anyway

it's hard not to admire the way the Proteas went about their business today.
they knuckled down big time and in 90 overs not one wicket was ''thrown'' away.
can't help but think they were't quite set to go in the 1st test given their quarantine.
not making an excuse for the lacklustre 1st test performance, but surely their preparation was far from best.
looking forward to seeing if they can keep the battle going tomorrow.

Yes it would have been nice to be 320/3, but seeing as last game we barely touched 200 in both innings combined, this is an improved performance.

Yeah SA are in a great position and personally I'd dismiss 'team batting first ended day one <5 down but scored too slow lol' chat as rubbish 90+% of the time.

Would be different if NZ hadn't dropped two catches but SA well in front right now.

I agree. Bangladesh batted slowly when they beat us (batting 2nd, not 1st) but they made the most of reprieves with possible wickets and then had some scoreboard pressure when they bowled again.

Pitch looks good for batting today. If it stays on the slower side then it should be much more comfortable for South Africa.
